Scouting Report

1/15/18 - Max FB: 81, FB: 78-81, CB: 66-68, CH: 69-73
6-foot-1, 175-pound, RHP shows swing and miss, late breaking CB and projectable FB.  Medium, athletic frame w/ some present strength, lot of projection w/ a high waist.  Pitches from a full wind-up w/ a very short rocker step towards third base and foot reset into middle of the rubber.  Chest high leg kick w/ hands head high and proper finish w/ H ¾ to ¾ release.  Lands with front foot facing on deck circle and momentum drives the foot open.  Can work on direction and land with front foot facing towards home plate, which will improve repeatability of arm slot.  Gets exceptional hip drive.  Slight stab in back, arm works.  Straight FB shows occasional cut.  True swing and miss CB.  12-6 w/ big break, above average depth, tight late rotation.  Knee buckler.  CH w/ arm-speed, fade and sink.  Late sink.  Both off-speed pitches are currently above average, project plus.  Bit of a thrower at this stage, projects to control as learns to repeat lower half and arm slot.  Tennessee commit is a big-time two-way prospect.

1/15/18 - 60 Time: 6.97, Position Velocity:  OF-86, Exit Velocity: 91
6-foot-1, 175-pound, RHH made big jumps in both OF throwing arm and exit velocity, likely due to the addition of 10 pounds since we saw him in the preseason last year.  Medium, athletic frame w/ some present strength, lot of projection w/ a high waist.  Offensively, hits from a slightly open, slightly crouched stance w/ back shoulder hand location.  Short, controlled bat waggle.  Shift of weight, knee to knee leg kick and proper load.  Explodes through the baseball w/ extension.  Still head allows barrel feel.  Feel for backspin.  Above average hit and power tools w/ more coming.  Defensively, moves well in the outfield w/ above average arm strength w/ carry through target.  Combination of speed and arm strength projects to stay in CF.  High level prospect committed to Tennessee.

2/12/2017 - 60 Time: 6.85, Position Velocity:  OF-82, Exit Velocity: 87
6-foot-0, 165-pound, RHH hits from a wide and even stance with relaxed hands to begin, simply lifts his left heel and sits it back down with a quietening of his hands to get loaded, lower half fires his back hip through the zone and keeps him balanced by maintaining that width, short swing can get a little steep to contact but usually provides some lift through his extension, likes to drive the ball toward the left-center gap.  Defensively, showed good hands and footwork in the outfield, stayed very under control, easy exchange led to a shorter but loose arm action through a high ¾ slot, arm strength will continue to improve.  Tennessee Commit.
