On Monday, we released an updated 2023 TN Rankings and today we'll highlight the six uncommitted fresh faces that broke into the Top 200. Mostly position players with an emphasis on outfielders with athleticism along with one southpaw arm, who had a strong showing at TN State Games.

2023 Fresh Faces

Landon Dockery, OF, Maryville, 2023
Uncommitted, 6-foot, 170-lb slender, athletic frame w/ room to add strength. Tall, balanced stance w/ compact load and minimal leg kick. Generates fair bat speed w/ level bat path into one handed finish. Sprays line drives to all fields w/ consistent hard contact (T 92.6; Avg: 87.1 exit velo) and some power projection (T 346 ft). Defensively, easy runner at 6.65 w/ light feet and good range. Attacks the baseball, fielding out front, and gets behind throws. Long, stabby arm action up to 3/4 slot w/ solid arm strength (83 OF velo). The only newcomer cracking the Top 100, showing well rounded tools and plenty of upside.

Logan Luckett, OF/INF, Adamsville, 2023
Uncommitted, 6-foot-2, 179-lb long, lanky frame w/ room to add mass. Wide, slightly open stance w/ quick tap stride and quiet hand load. Generates great bat speed (T 78.3; Avg: 73.1) w/ uphill plane and whip in the barrel. Solid rotation, but maintains plane leading to consistent barrels (T 94.4; Avg: 85.1 exit velo). Sprayed line drives gap to gap w/ some authority and future power projection to pull side (T 343 ft). Defensively, solid on the infield, showing some defensive versatility, but projects best in the outfield. Above average runner (T 7.05; This Fall: 7.13) and above average arm strength w/ long, loose arm action (T 84 INF; 84 OF velo). Luckett lands at 120th in the class, and should be an intriguing follow this upcoming Spring.

Jake Cardin, LHP, Giles County, 2023
Uncommitted Sr. southpaw w/ feel for three pitch mix and some rawness but legit changeup. 6-1, 170-pounds. Lean, wiry frame w/ lanky limbs and some projection. Quiet delivery and hands the ball well. Drop n drive lower half w/ some crossfire and closed foot landing. Long backstroke, working back to the ear into low 3/4 slot. Sling action working around the body. FB at 83-84, T84.4 mph. Heavy arm side action and life w/ occasional sink. T1994, 1913 average rpm. SL at 72-74 mph. Casts it out w/ 1/7 action and solid shape. Flashes of bite w/ more potential. T2149, 2062 average rpm. CH at 75-76 mph. Best secondary offering w/ depth and excellent tunnel of running FB. Feel for fade and depth w/ swing n miss. T1582, 1529 average rpm.

Mark Underwood, OF, Farragut, 2023
Uncommitted, 5-foot-9,168-lb small, lean frame w/ room to add strength. Not an over toolsy prospect, but Underwood is a spark plug that can put pressure on opponents. A bit overlooked in the deep Farragut lineup, but puts the ball in play w/ line drives spray and will bunt for hit. He can really run, both in the outfield and on the base paths, and plays hard every time. Limited video on the senior, but he will be back and play a crucial role to help the Admirals try to go back to back this upcoming Spring.

Isaac Lawson, OF, Jefferson County, 2023
Uncommitted, 6-foot-0, 198-lb proportional frame w/ lower half strength and some projection. Wide, slightly crouched stance w/ small, quick stride and very little hand load. Generates good bat speed, getting on plane, and strong through contact. Level bat path working up to two handed finish. Heavy dose of line drives and consistent barrels (T 92.3; Avg: 88.9 exit velo) w/ power upside (T 336 ft). Defensively, chance to play all three outfield positions, but projects as a corner spot and runs well (6.88). Good, light footwork, fielding the ball out front w/ long arm action and solid arm strength (85 OF velo). Lawson is a strong late bloomer to follow heading into 2023.

Brady Knepper, SS, Greenbrier, 2023
Uncommitted, 5-foot-10, 150-lb lean frame w/ lower half strength and room to add mass. Wide, balanced stance w/ small leg kick and little hand load. Generates fair bat speed w/ level bat path into two handed finish. Simple approach w/ swing consistency and spray to all fields (T 87.9; Avg: 82.3 exit velo). Table setter type bat that puts the ball in play w/ line drives. Defensively, provides some defensive versatility between MINF and OF, best projects as 2B/OF. Very sound actions defensively w/ consistent footwork and sure hands. Short, compact arm action w/ fair arm strength. Knepper is a solid college pick up that can do a little of everything and still has room to fill out.
