JACK JULIAN / RHP / C / HIXSON , TN / 2019

FB (84-87, T88, T89), SL (75-78)

-       3 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 1 K

-       1-4

Intriguing 2-way prospect was up to 89 on the mound, popped 2.03-2.06 between innings.  Tall, well-proportioned frame w/ lot of present strength, some projection.  Built like a linebacker w/ physicality everywhere.  Pitches from a full wind-up into over the top release.  High effort throw w/ some head violence, falls off to the first base side.  Super quick arm.  FB flashes arm-side run.  Heavy ball is difficult to drive.  SL flashed proper shape, rotation.  Flashed tightness w/ average depth.  Sprayed the zone w/ the FB on this day, while 7 of 9 SL’s were strikes.

Offensively, hits w/ an open, slightly crouched stance w/ hand rhythm into stride to slightly open and proper load.  Generates bat speed through the zone, flashes above average bat speed.  Learning to stay on line to the baseball w/ the lower half, as hips stay online, will tap into more power.  Defensively, presents a big target for his pitcher w/ a quality low target.  Moves well behind the plate.  Strong forearms, shows feel for receiving and sticking the baseball.  As a thrower, shows arm strength w/ carry through target and solid feet.
