We continue to take a look at players who will be participating in the PBR Tennessee Top Prospect Games at the University of Tennessee on June 9-10. The event affords players the opportunity to showcase their abilities in a combination showcase/game play event and will feature some of the top uncommitted Class of 2016 and 2017 players in the state.

Noah Sims attended our Preseason All-State showcase and caught our eye with his performance. Sims, a Class of 2016 SS/RHP from Sycamore HS, has a good combination of size, athletic ability, and arm strength, and he also proved to be an interesting prospect on the mound. Below is a look at his scouting report from the event.

2/7/15 - The 6-foot-2, 185-pound SS ran a 6.90 60-yard dash time and had an 86 mph position velocity across the infield. Defensively Sims showed loose arm action and good arm strength, had soft hands and fluid footwork with a clean exchange, Sims showed the ability to throw accurately from multiple arm slots. At the plate Sims had an athletic/balanced setup with a short stride, had an 82 mph exit velocity off the tee, showed good balance and an aggressive approach at the plate, is a gap to gap type hitter with flashes of power, swing can get a little long but gets the barrel through the zone with quick hands, good size and athleticism.  On the mound,  showed long arm action with a high-3/4 arm slot, arm shows some quickness, fastball sat 83-84 mph touching 85 on one occasion and shows occasional arm-side run, throws a cutter at 75-77 mph with some late action and a curveball that varied between 12/6 and 11/5 -action at 66-67 mph, showed some inconsistent command with the curveball, 70-72  mph changeup is thrown with good arm action, frame offers good projection.

Sims, currently ranked No. 46 in Tennessee’s 2016 class, will participate as both a SS and pitcher at the Top Prospect Games.
