The PBR Tennessee Top Prospect Games took place June 9-10 with a position player showcase at Maryville College and game play at the University of Tennessee. The following is an in-depth look at the pitchers from Team Navy.  This is pitcher analysis only.  Those players who also played a position for Team Navy will have their position player evaluation featured in a subsequent article.

Dylan Pacifico, RHP, Farragut HS, 2016
6-foot-1, 180-pounds, athletic build, long arm action, works through a high-3/4 slot with regular effort, up tempo delivery with a quick arm, fastball sat 84-85 mph touching 86, fastball mostly straight, showed a solid 67-70 mph curveball with 11/5 action and a 76 mph slider with some late bite, saw slightly better velocity from Pacifico at State Tournament (85-88 mph), allowed four hits, walked two, and struck out three in his two innings of work.

Aaron Brown, RHP/3B, Mt, Juliet HS, 2017
6-foot-4, 200-pounds, athletic frame that projects well, long arm action through a high-3/4 slot, arm is loose and clean, works both sides of the plate well, fastball shows occasional arm-side run at 84-87 mph, touched 88 on one occasion, not afraid to pitch inside with the fastball (hit two batters),curveball sat 67-71 mph with short 11/5 action, throws a 71 mph changeup with late fading action through the zone, allowed one hit and struck out two (one on a changeup) in his two innings of work, size and current velocity gives him potential to be a top arm in the 2017 class.

Hunter Judd, OF/RHP, Knoxville Catholic HS, 2016
6-foot-3, 170-pounds, long and lanky frame with good projection, arm is loose and works through a high-3/4 slot, fastball shows occasional arm-side run and sink at 80-83 mph, throws a 70-73 mph slider with short/late action that got some swings and misses, has very good confidence and feel for his 70-71 mph changeup, pounds the strike zone with all pitches, struck out the side in order in his first inning of work, finished his two-inning outing allowing one hit with four strikeouts, interesting mound prospect with good pitcher’s frame that projects for more velocity.

Charlie Brown, 2B/RHP, Sevier County HS, 2017
5-foot-11, 170-pounds, athletic build, works through a ¾ to high ¾ arm slot, quick arm, throws across body with some effort in delivery and tends to fall off hard first base side, fastball sat 79-82 mph touching 84 once, showed a 64-66 mph curveball with 11/5 action and a 69-71 mph changeup, allowed one hit, walked one, and struck out one in his inning of work.

Dustun Sams, RHP, Happy Valley HS, 2017
6-foot-2, 215-pounds, strong lower half, works through a ¾ arm slot that creates some natural arm-side run on fastball, fastball sat 77-78 mph touching 79, showed a 70-71 mph curveball with short/lateral action, shows good feel for an effective 72 mph changeup with fade that plays well off his fastball, allowed three hits and walked one in his two-inning outing.

Austin Graves, 2B/RHP, Portland HS, 2016
5-foot-3, 125-pounds, small frame, works through a high-3/4 slot with regular effort, adds and subtracts from fastball to create some deception, fastball varied between 74-79 mph and touched 80 on one occasion, mostly straight, showed a 67 mph curveball with 11/5 action, throws strikes consistently, allowed a lead-off hit and then retired the side in order in his one inning of work.

Connor Pinkard, LHP/1B, Knoxville Catholic HS, 2018
5-foot-10, 163-pounds, slender, young build, uses long arm action through an over-the-top arm slot, minimal effort delivery, throws strikes and hits spots well, fastball sat 67-71 mph touching 72, showed a 12/6 curveball at 59-61 with gradual action, also showed a 63 mph changeup, has a good idea on the mound and should continue to develop more velocity as he physically matures, allowed a bloop single and struck out two in his two innings of work.

Matthew Brooks, RHP, Knoxville Central HS, 2017
5-foot-10, 185-pounds, uses short arm action and works through a ¾ slot, stuck strictly with the fastball during his outing, fastball sat 74-75 mph and is straight, needs to develop secondary pitches, allowed three hits, one walk, and struck out one in his two innings of work.
