Unsigned Senior Games: Team Navy Corner Infielders

The PBR Tennessee Unsigned Senior Games took place on October 11 at Vol State and afforded uncommitted seniors from around the state the opportunity to showcase their abilities in a combination showcase/game play event.

The following is a look at the Team Navy corner infielders who participated in the event. This is position player analysis only. Those players who also participated as a pitcher at the event will have their pitching performance featured in a subsequent article.

Cody Mitchell, 2016, Roane County HS, 1B
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound prospect posted a 7.40 60 time and had an 82 mph position velocity across the infield. Defensively Mitchell has good arm strength, accuracy on throws, soft hands, fluid footwork, clean exchange and natural instincts around the bag. Offensively Mitchell has fast bat speed from the left side and had a 91 mph exit velocity off the tee. Mitchell hits from a balanced setup with a leg kick involved, uses his lower half, has good balance, aggressive approach, level path with extension, fluid rhythm , and is a gap to gap type hitter. Mitchell shows good overall strength and went 1 for 4 during game play. Mitchell committed to Walters State following the event.

Charles Alvis, 2016, LaVergne, 1B
The 6 foot 5, 206-pound prospect posted a 7.72 60 time and had an 85 mph position velocity across the infield. Defensively Alvis shows accuracy on throws, good arm strength, soft hands, and shows decent movement around the bag. Offensively Alvis has average bat speed from the right side and had an 81 mph exit velocity off the tee. Alvis hits from a balanced setup, has a short stride, can get more from his lower half at times, good balance, level path, and is a line drive type hitter. Alvis has good overall strength that translates to some pop off the bat. He went 0 for 3 during game play.

Jeffrey Swift, 2016, Station Camp HS, 3B
The 6 foot 1, 195-pound prospect posted an 8.25 60 time and had a 65 mph position velocity across the infield. Defensively Swift shows long arm action with below average arm strength, some accuracy, average hands, heavy footwork, and has a slower exchange. Offensively Swift has average bat speed from the right side and had a 76 mph exit velocity off the tee. Swift hits from an open setup, has a short stride, fair balance, short swing path and showed an opposite field approach. Swift went 0 for 4 during game play.
