On Sunday, September 28, a total of 35 uncommitted seniors gathered at Rose Park in Nashville, home of Belmont University baseball, for Prep Baseball Report Tennessee’s inaugural Unsigned Senior Games event.  Right-handed pitcher Connor Haymon (Houston HS) clearly stood out as one of the top pitchers in attendance.

Haymon showcased one of the top fastball velocities of the event in the 81-84 mph range. The 6-foot, 165-pound, uncommitted senior righty displayed minimal effort in his delivery and repeatable mechanics. Working through mostly a high-3/4 arm slot, Haymon’s fastball showed significant arm-side run, and he likes to use it to establish the inner part of the strike zone.  He showed excellent command of his 72-74 mph breaking ball that displayed tight spin and sharp 11/5 action and showed the confidence to throw it on any count.  In fact, two of the three strikeouts Haymon recorded in his two innings of work came when he buckled hitter’s knees on called third strikes.  In addition, Haymon showed an effective pickoff move with quick feet and short arm action.
