Rawlings Mad Mavericks Scout Day: Quick Hits

NASHVILLE, TN - The Rawlings Mad Mavericks organization continued their fall season with a PBR Scout Day Christ Presbyterian Academy on Thursday, October 26th. Over 25 players went through the pro-style workout and there were several players that impressed at the different stations of the showcase. Below are some standout performers from the event.

QUICK HITS

+ Jack Dugan: The Tennessee recruit and former PBRJFG participant in 2022 continues to show why he is a top-5 player in the 2026 class. Currently listed at 6 foot 2 and 180 pounds, Dugan has grown in size and strength since the spring and came away with an impressive showing on all fronts. 6.96 second runner with faster times to come. Showed clean feet and transitions working to both sides of his body. Presently smooth infielder with increasing arm strength that popped 92 mph across the infield, while mostly sitting upper 80’s with accurate throws that carried zip to them. Has the arm strength to stick at SS at the next level but could see him potentially moving to 3rd to develop his physicality and thus allowing him to truly bang from the left side. At the plate, LHH with an athletic base and a really strong top hand. Easy mover with balance on his back leg that syncs up with a simple leg lift to replant. Flashed a 97 mph exit velocity on a deep shot to the pull side, while having a consistent line-drive approach during his round. Has a really high ceiling and someone that should make noise on the national level as he keeps progressing. 

+ Luke Paciorek: Very unknown prospect that has all the intangibles and tools to be really good at this game for a long time. Major League Baseball bloodlines run throughout Paciorek as he is the grandson of Major League player John Paciorek, whose two other brothers were Tom Paciorek and Jim Paciorek, whom all three played big league baseball. While also having two other uncles that played professional baseball in the minors to go along with a cousin that is in the Yankees system currently. Physical 2026 prospect listed at 6 foot 1 and 185 pounds that stands out physically. Projectable outfielder that has a lot of upside and athletic ability clocking his 60 yard at 6.76 and showing future ability with the arm. At the plate, presents a lot of gap to gap power, with consistency that showed a true average exit velocity of just north of 90 mph, while leading the entire group with a max exit velocity of 98 mph that ranged 370 ft. Has the makeup to be a 5 tool player with time and is someone that will have a lot of schools and professional scouts following. 

+ Joey Ansell: Joey came onto the scene this summer attending our Knoxville Top-Prospects event in Knoxville where he was someone that definitely caught our attention. 2026 LHP standing at 6 foot 5 and 195 pounds, Ansell has added serious muscle to his frame since the summer, coming in 15 pounds heavier and looking strong. Really impressed with his fastball that sat 85-86 mph, topping 87 mph. FB showed some inconsistency with release point and is in the middle currently between a true 4-seam and 2-seam action carry. However, this makes him that much more exciting as he presents a high strikeout potential with that pitch as it develops. Slider showed sweeping action and will be better as he learns spin and wrist angles. Changeup showed good depth and swing and miss potential to righties and he must continue to develop that pitch to carry more run, as it will be one of his best weapons. Extremely projectable body and frame with the skill set to be a high ceiling arm from the left side and someone that will pull a lot of eyes. 

+ Wyatt Severance: Slim and athletic moving catcher that showed out well in every portion of the event and someone that will start garnering a lot of attention from college schools as he matures. Currently listed at 5 foot 11 and 170 pounds, Severance packs a punch with the bat, as well as with the arm. 6.84 runner in the 60 with potential for more as he gains muscle. Showed why he could be one of the better catchers in the 2026 class with pop times of 1.90-1.95 to go along with an arm that flashed 84 mph while mainly staying in the 79-81 mph range to second base. Had a really good round of BP to all parts of the field. Showed bat speed and room for upside with a 96 mph exit velocity, while averaging in the mid 80’s mph. Good kid and knowledge of the game. Will be the primary catcher this season on varsity. 

+ Jack VanOrman: 2027 prospect that was virtually unknown to us before the event. Stood out in terms of physicality, ability, maturity and upside. Caught my attention early as he went through his infield portion of the event, as someone that young and that long shouldn’t have that good of feet around the infield with the ability to bend as well as he did. Listed at 6 foot 3 and 175 pounds, he has an ideal baseball frame with loads of athletic ability and potential. Clocked just north of a flat 7 second sixty right at 7.04, with sub-7 currently already present. Made plays to both sides of his body look natural and effortless at Shortstop, while showing easy receiving skills that finished with a really whippy arm. At the plate, showed rotational ability with quality barrel control that popped multiple low 90’s mph exit velocity with a consistent line drive approach up the middle and to left-center gap. Showed maybe his highest upside on the mound where he creates incredible layback and hip separation with plenty of more velocity coming his way. Sat 83-84 mph with 18 inches on average of carry on the FB with a CB and SL that currently offer more of a blended shape with 15 inches of horizontal movement but offers wipeout potential once he learns to spin it more efficiently. A freshman that should compete for starting time on varsity at CPA and has all the tools to do well from the jump. Offers extremely high upside and true draft potential, just depending on where he develops more over his high school career. 

+ Gavin Schramm: Rangy 2026 infielder that moves really well and shows a lot of athletic ability. 6 foot and 160 pounds, Schramm presented quick moving hips and feet defensively. Not necessarily a burner but clocked a sub-7 sixty right at 6.97 and plays faster in the field. Took good angles working through up the middle on ground balls. Leveraged his lower half well to work through his backhand while showing that he has present ability for throwing off-balance. Arm strength is present as he showed 89 mph across the diamond. Displayed the best barrel control in terms of sweet spot % with a 75% clip while showing some bat speed with a max exit velocity of 93 mph. Good player and lean build that should continue to add strength. 

+ Roman Abbagnaro: Former PBRJFG23 participate this past summer at Lakepoint. Abbagano showed maturity and ability this summer and continues to expand on that. 2027 prospect that is just shy of a 7 flat sixty showed long strides to a 7.13. Long limbed at 5 foot 8 and 155 pounds showed flashes of upper 80’s mph exit velos, while maxing out currently right at 90 mph.LHH that has good hips and rotational ability. Smooth outfielder with a feel for leveraging without breaking stride made accurate throws on a line directly to home from the outfield right in the low to mid 80’s. Another freshman at CPA that shows potential with a good floor and makeup.
