In each article, we will not only recap the successful seasons of these 40 schools, but highlight the individuals who drove that success and preview what the outlook is for each team in 2016.

+Season Recap:

Marshall spent most of the 2015 season ranked despite a tough early schedule and the Statesmen delivered on that promise in the postseason, winning the Conference 15 Championship and finishing as the 5A Northern Region Runners-up and 5A State Runners-up, losing both of those games to regional rival and State Champion Stone Bridge. The Statesmen compiled a record of 21-7 over the course of the season.

+Key Performers:

Mitch Blackstone: (C, 2015, Cornell) Blackstone was named the 5A State Player of the Year for the second consecutive season and was also named to the Washington Post’s All-Metropolitan Team.

Matt Borowski: (3B, 2015, St. Bonaventure) Borowski provided solid defense at third for the Statesmen and also added some thump to the middle of the lineup.

+2016 Outlook:
The Statesmen will be anchored by a talented and deep pitching staff in 2016 that will be led by Steven Johel (RHP, 2016, Coastal Carolina), Nick Cintron (LHP, 2016, Cornell), Jamie Handley (RHP, 2016), Ben Kerns (LHP, 2016, Ursinus), and Lee Morrison (RHP, 2017). Marshall will have to replace the heart of their offense, but they should be strong defensively with Justin Han (MIF, 2016, Middlebury College) and Robert Guenther (MIF, 2017) up the middle.
