SEASON OUTLOOK
Douglas Freeman is coming off of an outstanding 2015 season that saw the Rebels go to the State Tournament for the third straight year and ultimately reach the State Semfinals before being eliminated by eventual State Champion Stone Bridge. The 2016 Rebels return an experienced core of position players and will have a solid lineup with Steenburgh anchoring it from the middle. Freeman graduated a lot of innings and four year starter at catcher Logan Harvey (Wake Forest), so the Rebels will have to look to their youth to plug those holes. The Rebels have a talented core with good senior leadership, which should allow them to develop and replace the production that they lost to graduation over the course of the season. The Rebels are off to a 1-1 start after a tough loss to Atlee and a big win over Highland Springs. As the season progresses and the playoffs approach, look for Douglas Freeman to be a contender for its fourth straight trip to the State Tournament.
