Scouting Report

6.27.17:  Mack is 5-11 with an athletic frame that he can still add weight to as he gets stronger. He hits from the left side from an upright balanced stance, short stride on line and a smooth load back, good rhythm to the swing, some hip explosion and good balance to swing. Works straight to ball, comes through it slightly uphill, pull preference to swing but stays level to drive balls the other way, exit velocity was 80. In the outfield, good footwork, gets behind the ball well with above average hands and plays through it to a clean, quick exchange. Throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a short, loose arm action, throws had some accuracy and outfield velocity was 82. Home to first was 4.44. On the mound, has a drop and drive delivery with a high three-quarters arm slot. Stabs down to a long arm action on the backside that shortens up, quick arm, generates velocity with normal effort. Shoulders are uphill and on line, lands on line and finishes in an athletic position. Fastball was 74-76 and has plane as well as a bit of late run. Change-up has some armspeed and run to it, sitting 68-69. Curveball had some armspeed and sharp 2/8 break running 60-64.

6.3.17: Mack has an athletic frame and a stronger lower half. Hits from the left side, short leg kick stride, smooth load back. Explosive hips and good balance, short swing with some batspeed works uphill through it with good extension. Works gap to gap and has some power to his pull side.

10.12.15 Mack is a lanky lefty who throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. His shoulders are level and closed as he strides out to a closed landing, creating a classic lefty crossfire and good deception. His fastball ran 69-73 and he pounded the strike zone with it. He also threw a big, 1/7 breaking curveball that ran 59-63.
