2022 VA/DC MLB Draft Preview

This weekend marks the opening of the 2022 MLB Draft, with the first two Rounds being Sunday evening, July 17, Rounds 3-10 being Monday, July 18, and Rounds 11-20 occurring on Tuesday, July 19. This year's draft format will be the format that we have for at least the next five years, with just 20 rounds and the draft being a part of MLB's All-Star Weekend. 

The 2021 MLB Draft was a solid year for Virginia/DC, with Madison's James Triantos being the lone prep player taken, but numerous college players going in the Draft. While there are always some surprises, the 2022 MLB Draft is shaping up to be similar to 2021. There are a few prep players that could pop early, and plenty of college players from the Classes of 2018, 2019, and 2020 that have a chance to go as well. Today, we will place a spotlight on some of the players that we think are likely to hear their names called this week:
