Bell and Wildcats Blank Lake Braddock

Monday saw Centreville and No. 16 Lake Braddock square off in spring break action in the DC Baseball Classic. A low scoring pitchers duel between Centreville senior Hunter Bell (VCU) and Lake Braddock sophomore Mike Weidinger broke out with Centreville pulling out a 2-0 win.

Bell was the star of the show for Centreville and pitched 6.2 scoreless innings, allowing only 1 hit. He recorded 9 strikeouts and walked 3.  Junior RHP Eric Bohenek came in to get the last out. Bohenek walked the first batter he faced to load the bases, but he ended the game with a strikeout. Offensively, Centreville was led by Junior OF Thomas Trinca, who was 1-for-1 with an RBI and a run scored.

Weidinger pitched well for Lake Braddock, lasting 5.1 innings, allowing 4 hits, 2 walks, 2 runs and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Senior Noah Adcock-Howeth (Mary Washington) faced 3 batters, walking 1, 0 runs, 0 hits. Lake Braddock’s lone hit was a single by Sophomore Andrew Schaeb.
