Potomac High School catcher Drew Blevins has committed to attend Marymount University in the fall of 2016. Blevins is the latest in a long line of Panthers to earn the opportunity to play in college under long-time Head Coach Mike Covington’s supervision. Potomac is coming off of an outstanding 2015 season which saw them win Conference 15 and advance to the 5A Northern Region Tournament before being eliminated by eventual State Runners-up Marshall.

At the Pre-Season All-State Showcase in February, Blevins hit from an athletic stance that was tall and balanced. His load was methodical at times, which made his rhythm stiff. He had a short stride that stayed on line and he maintained balance throughout his swing. Blevins’ bat was quick through the zone and he had an exit velocity of 78 mph. Blevins had a good approach during the round, and his swing path was short and level with a line drive stroke. Behind the plate, Blevins threw from a high three-quarters arm slot. He had a solid setup with good hands, though his receiving was rigid at times. Blevins’ throws were accurate with carry and he had pop times from 1.95-2.19. His feet were quick with consistently clean exchanges.

When he arrives at Marymount, Blevins should be able to help the Saints immediately as a solid defensive catcher and good bat off of the bench. As his career progresses, he has the potential to develop into good defensive catcher who will hit for a high average with some doubles power mixed in.

Congratulations Drew!!!
