Prep Baseball Report of NC was on hand on June 11th for a PBR Scout Day with the Carolina Rockies.  Rockies players went through a pro-style workout with the pitchers throwing a controlled bullpen.  Seventy-Four players from the organization took part in the day with 34 arms throwing controlled bullpens.

By The Numbers:

• 74 players from the Carolina Rockies took part in the workout
• 2021 - 2023 grad years were represented
• 6 hitters turned in an exit velocity of 90mph or higher off the tee
• 16 hitters were 85mph or higher in their exit velocity testing
• 6 catchers produced POP Times of 2.10 or better
• 10 players ran 7.30 or better in the laser timed 60
• 92 was the top bolt on the mound, coming from an uncommitted 2021
• 6 arms threw 85mph or higher in the bullpen sessions

JR Lingerfelt C / 1B / North Davidson, NC / 2021 Positional Profile: C/1B. Body: 6/10, 190 pounds. Athletic frame with strength. Defense: 2.03 - 2.18 pop times. Fluid feet, clean exchabges across his chest, low hips receiving, average hands. Arm: R. C - 78 mph. Accurate, short arm action, high 3/4 slot. Hit: LHH. Even base with more weight on the back leg, barrel starts flat above back shoulder. Small leg kick, short stride, hands work back.. Loose hands with some quickness, lift to the barrel path, gap to gap approach, some barrel feel. Power: 92 mph exit velocity from the tee.  Strength to his pull side, average to above average bat speed. Run: 7.80 runner in the 60.

 

 

Ethan Stanley C / 1B / Lee County, NC / 2021 Rankings  StateRank: 191 / POS: 27 Positional Profile: C/1B. Body: 6/3, 165 pounds. Lanky frame, room to fill out. Defense: 1.98 - 2.18 pop times. Quick transfers across his chest, low hips receiving, average to above average hands. Arm: R. C - 74 mph. Accurate, short arm action, over the top slot. Hit: RHH. Balanced, even base, hands start near back shoulder. Weight goes back, short stride, small hand load. Level swing, barrel stays through the ball, middle to pull approach, better than average barrel feel. Power: 84 mph exit velocity from the tee.  Average bat speed, numbers should improve with added strength. Run: 7.56 runner in the 60.

 

 

Daniel Lawson C / 1B / Davie County, NC / 2022 Rankings  StateRank: 110 / POS: 16 Positional Profile: C/1B. Body: 6/1, 205 pounds. Strong build. Defense: 2.26 - 2.47 pop times. Fluid feet,transfers across his chest, has hipmobility, big target, above average hands receiving. Arm: R. C - 69 mph. Accurate, short arm action, high 3/4 slot. Hit: RHH. Relaxed, tall, slightly open, narrow base, hands at back shoulder. Smooth load, short stride, littel hand movement. Loose hands, direct barrel path, extension through the zone, uses the whole field, better than average barrel awareness. Power: 82 mph exit velocity from the tee.  Has strength, above average bat speed. Run: 7.62 runner in the 60.
