College Prospect Games East Analysis Part 2

On Tuesday July 18, Old Dominion University hosted the PBR VA/DC College Prospect Games East. Players from multiple classes showcased in front of the PBR VA/DC staff at the event and had their videos and stats taken. Here is the first part of our analysis of the event.

Caleb Jones SS Great Bridge 2021
Jones is 5-9 and has a lanky frame, hits from the left side from a balanced stance. Strides on line, smooth load down and back, some hip explosion and balance during swing. Level path, finishes uphill, line drive hitter with barrel awareness and some extension through the ball, exit velocity was 77. At short, clean feet, gets behind ball, fields with above average hands. Plays through the ball, clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, short arm action, infield velocity 66.

Alex Moore 2B Great Bridge 2021
Moore is 5-5 with a lanky frame, he hits from the right side from an open upright stance. Leg kick stride, short load back, wraps bat, some rhythm to swing. Explosive lower half and some balance to swing. Quick to ball, with extension through it. Level line drive swing, good approach working gap to gap, exit velocity was 67. At short, clean feet, fields with wide base, average hands. Quick transfer, works through the ball, throws from low three-quarters arm slot, short arm action, position velocity was 65.

Alexander Petroka C Albemarle 2018
Petroka is 6-1 with a lankier athletic frame, hits from the left side form a slightly open athletic stance. Short stride slightly closed, smooth load, good rhythm to swing. Explosive lower half, good balance. Quick to ball, extends through it, good approach, used whole field. Finished uphill through the ball, exit velocity was 75. Ran a 4.44 home to first. Behind the plate, clean exchange, throws from high three-quarters arm slot, longer arm action. Pop times were 2.19-2.34 and position velocity was 69.

Trevor Saniano RHP/C Indian River 2018
Saniano is 5-9 with a strong frame. Hits from the right side from an open upright stance. Strides on line, load back with wrap. Some hip explosion, weight shifts forward during swing. Quick to ball, extension through it with some batspeed, worked primarily gap to gap, exit velocity 86. Behind the plate, quick clean exchange, throws from low three-quarters arm slot, short arm action, throws had strength, catcher velocity was 80, pop times were 2.0-2.09. Showed versatility and ability to play the outfield and the infield as well. On the mound, throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. Longer, free arm action, throws with some effort. Shoulders level and closed, sweeps leg to an open landing, athletic finish. Fastball was 80-82, touching 83 with some late run. Curveball had sharp 11/5 break and some armspeed at 67-69. Change-up was 69-71 with some sink.

Aaron Torres RHP Cape Henry Collegiate 2018
Torres is 6-0 with an athletic frame. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a longer, quick arm action and normal effort. Shoulders are uphill and closed, lands closed with an athletic finish. Fastball was 80-81, touching 82 with plane and a bit of run. Two-seamer showed heavier late life. Cutter was 73-74 with hard sweep to it and some armspeed. Curveball had sharp 11/5 break and good armspeed, running 70-72. Change-up was 75 with sink and good armspeed. Has feel for all of his pitches and pitchability.
