Team Mid-Atlantic Player Analysis Part 3

Joshua Moylan 1B / 3B / Archbishop Spalding, MD / 2020

Imposing frame with room to add to it at 6-foot-4, 220-pounds. An athletic, power hitting first baseman who will provide a dangerous bat in the middle of a lineup. Hits from a slightly crouched and open athletic set up. Higher leg kick load to hitting position slightly closed. Hands are direct to the ball with long uphill finish wanting to elevate the baseball.  Good lower half with hip explosion. Shows nice balance and rhythm at the plate with a seemingly effortless swing. Generates pull side pop naturally now and should evolve to all fields. Exit velocity was 89 mph with a wooden bat.  Athletic around the bag at first. Clean hands and footwork, knows the position and plays it at a high level. A top bat in the region and one to follow down the road.

Andrew Ward LHP / OF / Fluvanna, VA / 2020

Durable frame with room to shape at 6-foot-2, 230-pounds. Compact controlled build up style delivery. Average leg kick while working down to out gliding downhill. Get some hip load with weight back and gets nice lower half involvement working down-hill and some backside drive. Has a longer arm action with slight pause after break. Whippy, fast arm speed throwing from a high three quarter. Fastball shows natural run to the pitch up to 88 mph. Breaking ball has depth on the pitch with a bigger 1/7 action.
