Friday night, over 25 players from Northern Virginia that play for NOVA Elite took part in a Scout Day workout in front of the PBR Scouting staff. Today we highlight a few players that stood out.

Calvin Bernard RHP / 1B / Central Woodstock, VA / 2022

Bernard had an intriguing two-way showing. Tall frame with plenty of projection left to it. On the mound, throws from a high slot, easy effort to delivery with a short clean arm action. At the plate, showed some pull side power and strength at contact, chance to grow into more power as he continues to gain strength.

Alex Brown LHP / OF / Osbourn, VA / 2021

Brown had among the best showings of the evening. On the mound, short quick 3/4 arm action, athletic dynamic delivery. Fastball was 81-83 and up to 84, there is projection left in his frame and the opportunity to add velo. Breaking ball showed late hard sharp break that flashed swing and miss, he also showed ability to change the tilt on it. At the plate, has some pull pop from the left side of the plate and showed arm strength from the outfield.

Sean Lee OF / LHP / Patriot, VA / 2022

Lee has an athletic frame that has some strength in the lower half and projection left to it. Athletic delivery on the mound from a higher slot with feel for his whole arsenal. At the plate, athletic violent lower half, natural loft in his swing.

Nash McCarthy OF / Unity Reed (stonewall Jackson), VA / 2021

McCarthy has an athletic frame with a lot of projection left and room to add strength. Has a strong contact point and some doubles power with the chance to grow into more power as he adds strength.

Gabriel Rivera OF / LHP / Patriot , VA / 2021

Rivera also is in the mix for best night with his two-way showing. Athletic frame with a lot of projection left and room to add strength. Fastball was up to 80 and showed feel for two different breaking balls on the mound. Arm strength translated in the outfield and he was one of the better runners of the evening at 7.09. Hits from the left side with a short slightly uphill line drive swing that works well in the gaps and has the potential for consistent extra base power as he adds strength.

Nicholas Leckert 3B / 2B / Patriot, VA / 2022

Leckert was another standout two-way player. Athletic frame has strength present already, especially in the lower half. On the mound, low effort delivery from a three-quarters arm slot, was up to 81 and showed feel for two offspeeds, highlighted by a change-up with good armspeed and heavy, heavy fade. At the plate, big leg kick stride, violence in his swing and strength at contact with extension through the ball. Power present to pull side with potential to have power to all fields by the time he graduates.
