Northern Virginia Prospect ID (More Top Pitching Performances)

On Thursday, July 31, PBR VA/DC hosted its first prospect camp at Patriot High School in Nokesville.  Over 50 student-athletes across four classes participated in the event and multiple colleges were present.

More Top Pitching Performers (Listed Alphabetically):

Jonathan Caicedo, RHP, 2016, Potomac Senior High School. Caciedo stands a lanky 6-2 and has a quick, loose arm. His fastball ran 78-80 and had some sinking action to it. He threw a very good late breaking 11/5 curve and a forkball that had considerable sink.

Austin Gerber, RHP, 2016, Patriot High School. Gerber has very sound mechanics and repeats his delivery, pounding the zone consistently with all three pitches. His fastball was 79-82. He threw a hard-biting 10/4 slider in the mid 60’s and a very good change-up in the low 70’s with movement.

Jonathan Mahoney, RHP, 2015, Garfield High School. Mahoney stands a monstrous 6-8 on the mound and generates an outstanding amount of plane from his over the top arm slot. His fastball was 79-83. He also showed an 11/5 curveball and a change-up that he threw with full armspeed.

Nathan Volz, LHP, 2015, Potomac Senior High School. Volz is 6-3 with an athletic body and a low three-quarters arm slot. His fastball was 80-83 with heavy run on it and he threw a very heavy baseball. He featured a cutter right around 70 that he could turn into a plus slider with work.
