Q & A with University of Virginia Commit Nate Eikhoff

By: John Nolan, Assistant Director of Scouting

We recently had the opportunity to sit down with University of Virginia commit Nate Eikhoff.  Eikhoff is 5-foot-11, 185 pound, Left Handed Hitting, Middle Infielder, from Patriot HS (Nokesville, VA).

PBR:  Why did you choose the University of Virginia?

Eikhoff: I chose the University of Virginia because I loved everything about the school. The academics, baseball, and the city were amazing. I fell in love with it a soon as I stepped on campus for the first time. The coaches are awesome and they are the type of coaching staff that I was looking for at a school.

PBR:  What other schools were you considering?

Eikhoff: I was considering William and Mary, and High Point the most, but there were many more schools that I would have loved to be recruited by.

PBR:  What other factors made Virginia the school that you want to attend?

Eikhoff: It isn’t too far from home and I love the city of Charlottesville. The coaches were great from the first time I met them and that was a big part for me in making a decision about where I wanted to attend college.

PBR:  Where did UVA first see you?

Eikhoff: They saw video of me that my high school coach sent to them. The first time they saw me play in person was when my travel team had a tournament at UVA .

PBR:  What skills do you feel that you will be able offer Virginia?

Eikhoff: I feel like I will be able to offer a solid bat in the line-up and solid glove in the field.

PBR:  Who is the best pitcher that you have faced?

Eikhoff: It is hard to say based off of all the talented pitchers that I have faced.

PBR:  Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Eikhoff: The biggest impact for me has been my parents. They have always pointed me in the right direction, and have always given me the opportunity to achieve my goals. There is no way I could ever repay them for that, and I will always be grateful for the support that they have given me.
