Region 6C Quick Hits: Annandale at West Springfield

A beautiful Saturday afternoon saw Annandale travel to West Springfield for their Region 6C Quarterfinal game, which had been scheduled for Friday night, but was postponed due to the rain. Both teams started the game with righthanders on the mound, Annandale going with senior Tyler Plank and West Springfield going with junior Henry Pastel. 

The Spartans were able to scratch a quick run in the first to open up an early 1-0 lead, but then the game cruised through the first three innings, with the Spartans maintaining their 1-0 lead. West Springfield got a rally going in the bottom of the fourth with a Kaleb Williams double, ultimately scoring four runs in the inning and opening up 5-0 lead.

The Atoms were able to respond with a rally of their own in the top of the fifth. With two outs, TK Decareau drove in Annandale's first run with a double and Grant Yunger drove in 2 more with a single to cut the deficit to 5-3. The Spartans added another in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 6-3 after five complete.

West Springfield effectively put the game away in the bottom of the sixth inning, hanging a five spot and pushing the lead out to 11-3. Annandale would muster a little two-out thunder in the seventh to score again, but ultimately it wasn't enough as the Spartans won the game by a final score of 11-4, advancing the Region Semifinal against WT Woodson.
