South Lakes Advances to Liberty Semis

South Lakes defeated Washington & Lee (Arlington) on Friday night at Barcroft Park in a Liberty District quarterfinal, 8-4. With the win, the Seahawks advance to Tuesday's semifinals and clinch a spot in the Region 6D Tournament.

Senior RHP Braden Huebsch surrendered two unearned runs on three hits over 3.2 innings, striking out five and walking one. Freshman RHP Ryan Ertlschweiger pitched 2 innings, allowing two runs on three hits, two strikeouts and two walks. 2020 RHP Jack Thompson was impressive as he closed out the game for South Lakes. Thompson faced four batters, had four strikeouts and threw seventeen pitches, fifteen for strikes. Offensively, South Lakes was led by 2020 Ryan Dooley (VMI), who went 2-for-3, with two runs scored, walk, RBI and a triple; Jaime Quinn-Irons, 2-for-4, two RBIs and Braden Huebsch, 2-for-3, two runs scored. Jack Howard also had two RBIs.

2020 RHP Sam Dozier took the loss for Washington-Lee. He allowed nine hits and eight runs over 5.2 innings. 2019 sidearm LHP Will Carlson was effective over the 1.1 innings. He did not allow a hit or a run. Washington-Lee recorded 6 hits, led by Jack Winslow who went 2-for-3 at the plate.
