Summer Recap: Top Pitchers

With the Summer in our rear view and fall is full swing, we take time out to highlight our events from this past summer. We are going to highlight some of the top performances of the summer by prospects that attended PBR events. Today we start off our Summer Recap series looking at the top pitchers.

Braydon Floyd RHP Stafford 2017
Charleston Commit
8.9.16 (Unsigned Senior Games) - Floyd is 6-3 and has a lanky frame, throwing from a three-quarters arm slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. Short, loose arm action that is quick and generates velocity with normal effort. Shoulders slightly uphill and closed as he strides to an open landing with an athletic finish with slight fall off. Fastball sat 84-85, touching 87 with late run. Sharp 11/5 curveball with good armspeed ran 71-73. Slider had sharp 11/5 break at 72. Very good command of all pitches.

Hunter Hoopes, OF/RHP, W.T. Woodson, 2018
5.22.16 (Pre-Summer Trials) - Hoopes stands a lanky 6-0 tall with a projectable frame. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. Long, loose arm action that is quick and generates velocity with normal effort. Shoulders are level and closed and he lands closed before an athletic finish. Fastball had late run, sitting 81-82 and touching 84. Sharp 11/5 curveball that he slowed his arm a bit on, running 62-63. Good armspeed on a change-up that ran and was 70-73.

Matthew Kleinfelter RHP 3B Lancaster 2019
5.22.16 (Pre-Summer Trials) - Kleinfelter stands 6-1 and has a strong athletic frame. Throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a long, loose arm action that is quick, generating velocity with some effort. Shoulders are level, stays on line to a square landing with a slight fall off finish. Fastball had hard run, sitting 84-86. Slowed arm a bit on curveball, which had gradual 11/5 break at 64-67. Slowed arm a bit on fading change-up that was 73.

Hampton McClellan RHP James River 2017
5.22.16 (Pre-Summer Trials) - McClellan stands 6-3 and has a lanky, athletic frame. Throws from an over the top slot with a short arm action that is quick. Generates velocity with some effort. Shoulders are downhill as he strides online to a square landing with an athletic finish. Fastball had slight sink, running 84-85, sitting 86. Sharp 10/4 slider with good armspeed, running 69-70. Change-up thrown with good armspeed, running 79.

Ryan Miles RHP Woodgrove 2017
8.9.16 (Unsigned Senior Games) - Miles has an athletic 6-0 frame and throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. Short, loose arm action is quick and generates velocity with normal effort. Shoulders slightly uphill and closed as he strides to an open landing with fall off finish. Fastball sat 84-85, touching 86 and was heavy with slight run and downward plane. Outstanding curveball with sharp, power 12/6 break and good armspeed at 72. Splitter with decent armspeed and armside run was 75-77.

Josh Pittman RHP Highland 2017

8.9.16 (Unsigned Senior Games) - Pittman has a lanky 6-0 frame and throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. Short, loose arm action that is quick and generates velocity with normal effort. Shoulders level and closed as he strides to a closed landing with a fall off finish. Fastball sat 84-85, touching 86, with hard late run. Curveball had sharp 11/5 break and good armspeed, running 70-71. Showed good command of both pitches.

James Price RHP Patriot 2017
George Mason Commit
8.9.16 (Unsigned Senior Games) - Price is 5-11 and has a lankier athletic frame, throwing from a high three-quarters arm slot with smooth drop and drive delivery. Long, loose arm action that is quick with some effort. Shoulders are uphill and closed and he lands square with an athletic finish and recoil. Fastball sat 84-85 with late run. Late-breaking sharp 11/5 curveball with good armspeed was 68-73. Outstanding change-up with good armspeed and fade was 73-76. Showed good command off all three pitches.

Rojo Prarie OF Lake Braddock 2018
5.22.16 (Pre-Summer Trials) - Prarie stands 5-11 and has a lanky, athletic frame. He throws from an over the top slot. Short arm action that is quick, generates velocity with some effort. Shoulders are level and he has good direction. Fastball was heavy, sitting 85-86. Sharp 12/6 curveball that ran 67-69. Real good just below the zone. Straight change-up with good armspeed thrown for strikes at 75-76.

Logan Ransom LHP Steward School 2019
5.22.16 (Pre-Summer Trials) - Ransom stands 5-9 and has a strong lower half to his frame. Throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. Long arm action that is quick, throws with high effort. Shoulders are slightly uphill and he stays on line to a square landing with a fall off finish. Fastball had late run, sat 82-83, touched 84. Sharp 1/7 curveball with decent armspeed, 68-72. Good armspeed on change-up that had arm side run, sitting 71-77.

Jack Slade RHP McLean 2017
6.21.16:  Slade is 6-2 with a lanky frame. Throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. Quick arm action with some effort. Shoulders are uphill and closed as he strides on line to a square landing with a fall off finish. Fastball sat 81-84, touched 86 with heavy run. Sharp sweeping slider with good armspeed was 69-72. Change-up had good armspeed and arm side run, sitting 72-77.
