TN: Royals Scout Team

Tim Kay
PBR Tennessee Director of Scouting

On Sunday, we were on site for the Royals Scout Team inter-squad at the beautiful University of Tennessee.  Below is a look at the players that jumped out in game.

ROBERT HASSELL III / OF / LHP / INDEPENDENCE, TN / 2020

3-4, HR

Vanderbilt commit showed off his advanced approach and easy power, delivering a no doubt home-run to straightaway CF (96 exit velo) while being the only hitter to collect 3 hits.  6-2, 185-pounder features a medium, athletic frame w/ well-proportioned lean strength.  Offensively, hits w/ a slightly open, slightly crouched stance w/ bat resting on back shoulder into short leg kick and proper load.  Generates above average bat speed through the zone.  Quiet, repeatable swing w/ easy bat speed.  All fields approach w/ lot of line drives when right.  Advanced approach, understands his zone and rarely expands, advanced spin recognition.  Barrel feel.  Projectable all fields power as frame continues to mature.  Showed another gear as a runner we have not see in the past, glided around the field, ran a 4.44 from the left side.  Defensively, shows the tools to play CF w/ easy arm strength, solid bat reads.
