The Vault is a periodic series that takes a look back at some of the top talent across the state that have been part of PBR. In just under two years of existence, PBR Virginia/DC has had over 200 event participants commit to colleges, along with the many more that we have seen through our non-stop, boots-on-the-ground approach to scouting across every state we cover. With The Vault, we give where they are now, along with the scouting report from the event they attended.

110Antonio Menendez RHP/OF Herndon 2017
Wake Forest Commit
Current VA Rank: No. 17
Current Overall Rank: No. 379

Event Scouting Report (Underclass Invitational 2.15.15)
Menendez has a lanky frame and is a sidewinder. He has a long, loose, quick arm action. He has a smooth, explosive rhythm to his delivery and his shoulders are level and he does a good job of staying online before falling off a bit after release. Menendez worked 78-81 mph with his fastball, touching 83 mph with good, late run. He threw a good, late breaking frisbee slider that ran 71-73 mph. He threw a good and a fading change-up that ran 71-74 mph. He had good command of all of his pitches and kept them down... Hit from a tall/balanced stance that was slightly open. Hands went back during the load causing an arm bar. Took a short stride with a leg kick. Good balance. Had a good approach during the round with quiet rhythm that was early. Bat path was level with extension and some length. Had a line drive/gap-to-gap stroke. Good hands! Had an Exit Velocity of 86 mph.  In the field, threw from a high ¾ arm slot with a long loose arm action. Throws were accurate for the most part and had carry. Played through the baseball. Showed fluid footwork and soft hands. Good actions with quick and clean exchanges.  Had a Positional Velocity of 78 mph.

7.22.15 Haney has a lanky, athletic frame and throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a smooth, drop and drive delivery. He has a short, loose arm action and throws with max effort. His shoulders are level and closed as he strides out on line to a square landing before falling off as he finishes. Haney’s fastball has heavy sink and some running action to it and sat 82-84. His slider had 11/5 action and flashed plus, with late, sharp action to it and full armspeed, running 68-71. His changeup was thrown with full armspeed and sinking action, sitting 76...Offensively, hit from a balance/athletic stance with slight bend in the knees.  Stance was slightly closed. Had a smooth load back with a slight wrap. Stride was short and stayed closed. Utilized and inward turn of the knee to generate power and as a timing mechanism. Maintained balance in the swing with a good lower half.  Took an advanced approach in the round with decent rhythm. Had a short/level bat path with extension. Showed fast bat speed and strong hands. Had an exit velocity of 84 mph. Line drive stroke with gap-to-gap potential.  In the field, threw from a high three-quarter arms lot with a long/loose arm action. Throws were accurate and have some life. Showed soft hands in the field with good actions. Is a very projectable player with a projectable body. Should be able to stay on the left side of the field. Footwork was fluid and exchanges were clean. Could cut down on the amount of steps after fielding the ball. Had a positional velocity of 83 mph.

Event Evaluation (2016/2017 Top Prospect Games 11.8.14)
Brooks is 5-foot-11 and has an athletic frame. He throws from a high three-quarters arm slot and has a quick, long arm action. He threw a 12/6 curveball that had more gradual break to it that ran 67-70. Brooks also flashed a change-up with sinking action that came in at 76. Offensively, is a switch hitter. In the field, Brooks was an outstanding athlete, with above average actions, and quick feet. Created good angles and had smooth actions with soft hands. Justice pounded the zone with has fastball and touched 86 mph, he worked at 81-85 with sink and a bit of run to armside. He threw a big, 1/7 breaking curveball with decent armspeed that he threw for strikes at the bottom of the zone, running 66-69. His changeup was straight at 76 mph.
