Last weekend Prep Baseball Report hosted the 2014 Top Prospect Games at Davenport Field on the campus of the University of Virginia for members of the 2016 and 2017 classes. Over 65 players participated, with some of the best talent from all corners of the Commonwealth showing off their ability on the field over the weekend. Here are some of the hitters from the event that stood out from the crowd for a specific strength.

Top Exit Speed:

95 MPH  Matthew Holt (RHP/1B, Nansemond River, 2016)
95 MPH  Louis Testa (1B, Neumann Goretti (NJ), 2016)

Top Raw Power:

Cody Schneider (OF/3B, Hickory, 2016) is a Radford University commit that is an outstanding athlete that has quick hands and outstanding extension.  On the weekend Schneider showed all in attendance what he was capable of by hitting a majestic home run over the "Hoo Zone".

Rafi Vazquez (RHP/1B, O'Connell, 2016) is an imposing force in the left handed batters box.  Vazquez has a swing that truly generates loft, while staying through the ball.  At 6'2", Vazquez has a short stroke that creates backspin to all fields.

Tyler Solomon (C/1B, Battlefield, 2017) is a Vanderbilt University commit that has elite bat speed for a 2017 grad (90 MPH-LH).  Solomon showed off his power from the left side on the weekend.  Left handed, Solomon hits from a wide stance and is able to generate backspin and loft.  He will be a premier power hitter by the end of his high school career.

John Callahan (SS, Stone Bridge, 2016) has outstanding leverage in his swing with great extension.  Callahan had a great gap-to-gap approach on the weekend and showed his power both in batting practice and live with a home run into the "Hoo Zone".

Most "Intriguing" Hitters:

Jared DiCesare (3B, Chantilly, 2016)  really knew how to handle the bat.  DiCesare was able to stay through the baseball and utilize the entire field all weekend.  With more physical strength, he will develop into a doubles hitter at the next level.

Kyle Battle (OF, Glen Allen, 2016) is an outstanding prospect in the OF with a very projectable body.  Battle has a line drive stroke and hits the ball hard to all fields.

Alex Amos (RHP/SS, Millbrook, 2016) is a high-energy two-way player that takes great at-bats and attacks the baseball. For his stature, he has leverage and is able to generate bat speed, power, and backspin.

Dion Jordan (OF, Nansemond River, 2016) is a strong, compact athlete with a short swing and strong hands.  On the weekend, Jordan made some outstanding plays in the field and showed his ability to hit with a few extra base hits.  He is a lead-off type, that will have the ability to burn outfielders that don't respect his bat.
