Scouting report on Bach from this spring:
Bach stands a lanky 6-foot-6 with a strong lower half. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot and has a smooth delivery. He has a short, quick arm action and generates easy velocity. His shoulders are closed as he strides out on line before coming to a complete finish. During a playoff out in May, Bach's fastball was 84-86 in the first inning, touching 87, before settling into 80-84 for the rest of the game. His fastball had late armside run and good angle due to his height and arm slot. His command was very good early in the game as he pounded the outside corner and showed the ability to attack inside whenever he wanted to. His slider had late 2/8 break and ran 68-71. He also threw a fading changeup with decent armspeed that sat at 70.

Analysis:
Bach’s angle and size make him hell on lefthanded hitters and he has the movement and stuff to be able to get out righthanded hitters as well. His lanky frame also suggests that his velocity should improve as he fills out and gets onto a college strength program. Carter’s older brother, Connor, was a low-80s lefty as a freshman at VMI who got stronger and added velocity as he developed, eventually becoming a weekend starter for the Keydets and a 21^st round draft pick (Washington Nationals) in 2014 after his senior year. Carter Bach is currently farther along in his development as a pitcher than his older brother was at the same point, and he has the physical ability to become a weekend starter at the Division I level and could following his brother’s footsteps to pro ball after his college career.
