Gonzaga visited the Paul VI on Tuesday evening for a scrimmage ahead of the opening of the delayed WCAC season. Both teams scored a pair of runs in the first inning before Gonzaga rode a big third inning rally to opening up a big lead and cruising to a big victory in the nine inning scrimmage. Senior Luke Jackman (Virginia Tech) started the game for Gonzaga and threw the first 3 innings, striking out 5 of the last 6 hitters he faced. Senior Riley Grohowski threw 3 scoreless innings, striking out 3. Jacob Gupton was 3-5 with a 2B, Nick Morabito (Virginia Tech) was 2-5 with a 3B, Greg Kopp was 2-5 with a 3B and 4 RBIs, Bryson Moore (Virginia) was 3-5 with a 3B, and Marcus LeClair (Virginia) was 3-5 with a 2B and a 3B for the Eagles.

For Paul VI, there were a few standout performances from underclassmen. Freshmen Jackson Sirois (Virginia) was 1-3 and threw a perfect inning with a strikeout and fellow freshmen Jaime Perez also tossed a clean inning with a strikeout.
