Scouting Report
Top Prospect Games II
Rhodes is 5-6 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the left side from an open upright stance, leg kick stride closed, loads back into a bit of a wrap. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Keeps hands inside, short and quick to the ball with some extension through the ball. Slightly uphill swing path, showed a primary pull approach, some power potential, exit velocity was 76. In the infield, rounds ball and fields with average hands. Works through ball to a clean exchange, throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a short quick arm action, infield velocity was 82. Showed versatility taking balls in the outfield where his velocity was 86. Ran a 7.42 60 yard dash.
Mid-Atlantic Summer Championship
Athletic frame at 5-foot-6, 140-pounds. Hits from the left side with an open athletic stance. Hands are loose and relaxed, strides slightly closed after a small leg lift, hands stay inside the ball well. Swing has some uphill tilt to it and has some pullside tendency. Athletic quick twitch actions at the plate. Defensively has some lateral range at short, soft hands, and clean exchange. More suitable for second base at this time, but solid shortstop and should only get better with added arm strength across. On the mound, Rhodes throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a short quick free arm action and normal effort. Closes shoulders and lands closed, some fall off to his finish. Fastball was 76-79, with downward plane and some late run, ball jumps out of hand. Strike thrower moved the fastball to both sides of the plate. Curveball was 66-67 with good armspeed and sharp 11/5 break. A lot of upside as a two-way player.
