New England Insider: Uncommitted Underclass Spotlight - Leif Bigelow, RHP/SS

Leif BigelowName: Leif Bigelow
Position: RHP/SS
Height/Weight: 6-foot-2, 160-pounds
School: Brattleboro Union
Class: 2018

Scouting Report: Good looking right-handed pitching prospect as he pitches from a low-¾ arm slot. The arm is quick and clean to the plate. Tracks his shoulders very well and stay on target to the plate. The frame is thin now, in time, could add 20 pounds to aid his game. Fastball had arm side run and action to it, getting to 82. The breaking ball is a short slider, getting to 69. The shape and rotation of the ball are good. The changeup is a plus pitch for him, showing plus action and fade to the pitch at 71. As a positional player, threw 87 from the outfield with carry and accuracy. At shortstop, he showed a solid glove with arm velocity of 82. The prep steps need to be cleaned up and he could be able to handle making all the necessary plays. The bat is free and loose, tee exit velocity of 81. Sets up even with his feet and dives to the pitcher as the ball approaches. Needs to control his feet better and use his hands as they are free and loose. Ran a 4.45 and showed good athleticism all day long.
