6-foot-3, 190 pound, switch hitting infielder with a tall frame and projectable build. Balanced, fluid defensive actions. Flashed a quick first step while maintaining body control working thru the ball at both SS and 3B on our looks. Light on his feet. Quick exchange funneling into throwing motion. Compact arm action that produces consistent carry. As a LHH, hits from a relaxed stance with tall posture. Starts slightly open to the pitcher before getting into leg lift. Front side stays in with hands back in a strong hitting position. Generates smooth, powerful bat speed with minimal effort. Barrel gets on plane early. High finish with lift after contact. When he flips over to the right side, the same athleticism and bat speed is present but with slightly less lift in the swing, as is common with most switch-hitters. Overall, very advanced skill set with a frame that will allow him to tap into more power in 2020. We’ve also had the chance to see him excel on the mound as well. FB ranged between 83-87 and touched as high as 88 mph. His best secondary offering is a straight CH at 75-78 that he throws with consistent control while maintaining FB conviction. 

PBR: Why did you choose Washington? 

 CF: I chose Washington because of the great facilities, the quality of the schools academics, I felt that the coaches would develop me for the next level and it was close to home

PBR: When did you make your decision? 

 CF: I made my decision in the Fall of 2018

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you play? Who was your primary recruiter?

CF: I was initially seen at a tournament that had games at Husky Ballpark. Donegal Fergus and Jason Kelly were my main recruiters at the time

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer/fall and what has that experience been like?

CF: In the summer I played for FSP Baseball. I have played with the same core of guys since I was 8 years old although our team changed our name a few times (originally Spartans, Rock Creek, and Dragons). I loved playing with this team because we all were super close with each other and we all knew how to win. In the fall I have spent the past few years playing for Baseball NW and I am truly grateful for the opportunities they provided me.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?

CF: My most memorable baseball moment is probably my walk off home run to win the North Vs. South tournament in San Diego while playing for Baseball NW last year.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you have faced in Washington?

CF: The toughest pitcher that I’ve faced is Owen Bishop. We have been teammates the last couple years but I was able to face him this summer and he had great command of all his pitches and good life on his fastball.

PBR: Any pre-game superstitions?

CF: I don’t have any weird superstitions but I always like to take BP before any of my games.

PBR: Favorite MLB player and why?

CF: My favorite MLB player is Ichiro. He is a great example of a hard working guy that would do anything to be successful. In his time in Seattle he was the one great constant and I believe he is the GOAT.
