December 24, 2020
The list of most viewed profiles of 2020 continues with '21 INF Jake Larson (Kentlake) at the #7 spot.
Larson came onto our radar back in the spring of 2019 when we first began scouting the HS season. He has always shown consistent in-game power at the plate with his combination of bat speed and an aggressive approach. Over time he's continued to develop more physicality and add strength to his frame while also showing progress on defensive side of the ball with his overall actions and athleticism. The Minnesota commit is one of the top position players in the state for his class.
So far we've highlighted the following profiles with our countdown
Scouting Report
6-foot, 195 pounds. Larson already showed plenty of power last spring and looks like he could be poised for a big 2020 season now that his frame has added more strength. Defensively he has the actions and versatility to float around to multiple INF spots. Keeps hips low throughout fielding and using a quick exchange into his throwing motion. Clean, loose arm action that will likely get stronger as he develops. At the plate, Larson is relaxed and balanced from his leg lift into landing. Barrel whips thru the zone with plenty of bat speed. In game, we’ve seen him go big fly to his pull-side and also stay thru balls with line-drive contact up the middle and oppo. One of the top uncommitted players remaining in the state.
Possess some of the best raw power in the entire class. Uphill swing path produces consistent lift at contact. Barrel whips thru zone with impressive bat speed. Physically built with a proportional frame. Moves well at 3B with solid footwork and plenty of arm strength from a compact throwing motion.
