On Sept. 22, the PBR Wisconsin team was forced to move its annual Senior Games indoors, from Concordia University to STiKS Academy, due to threat of rain. Regardless, it was still a successful, if small, senior-only showcase that’s already resulted in six commitments, with more surely on the way. We’re breaking our player analysis into three parts.

After dissecting each one of the day’s position players yesterday, we’re providing scouting reports and analysis on the day’s pitchers below. Later on today, we’ll reveal our top-15 prospects from the showcase and rank them accordingly.

For now, here are reports on each of the pitchers who attended the late September showcase.

ALL PROSPECTS (LISTED ALPHABETICALLY)

Quinn Berglin, Pewaukee (WI), 2020 (Lawrence University)
Positional Profile: RHP/OF
Body: 6-foot-2, 175-pounds. Long, physical frame with athleticism.
Delivery: Staggered setup, side rock to high knee lift and athletic balance point. Level shoulders, closed landing.
Arm Action: RH. Long, loose arm action from a 3/4 slot.
FB: T79, 77-78 mph. Consistent run/sink action. Some hard, heavy feel for strikes, feel for the corners.
CB: 66-69 mph. Sweeping, frisbee-like. Flashed power, late action.
CH: 70-71 mph. Mostly maintains arm speed; straight.
 
Joe DuCharme, Verona Area (WI), 2020
Positional Profile: RHP/OF
Body: 5-foot-10, 140-pounds. Thin, lean athlete; slight projection.
Delivery: Rhythmic side step to quick knee lift, hip turn, closed shoulders. Leg swings out to closed landing, good extension down mound, finishes off to the first base side.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm circle, consistent glove pack on draw, loose and clean out of a high 3/4 slot. Struck our four in his two innings of work.
FB: T80, 77-80 mph. Straight type, still features jump from hand. Some heavy feel, feel for the corners.
CB: 65-69 mph. 11/5 shape thrown at arm speed with above-average depth, action. Confidence, go-to secondary. Feel beneath the zone.
CH: 64-65 mph. Flashed some sinking action; thrown sporadically. 

Grady Gorgen, Mineral Point (WI), 2020
Positional Profile: OF/LHP
Body: 6-foot-1, 165-pounds. Athletic, lanky frame with projection; some strength in upper half.
Delivery: Works in tempo, side step to high knee and high front side, closed landing.
Arm Action: R/L. Smooth and fluid arm action; long and loose with easy effort.
FB: T80, 78-80 mph. Slight arm-side run.
SL: 72-73 mph. 1/7 downer shape, inconsistent feel. Raw feel to spin. 

Addison Hochevar, Badger (WI), 2020
Positional Profile: LHP/OF
Body: 6-foot-3, 165-pounds. Lanky, high-waisted prospect with projection.
Delivery: Squared start to slow rock and high knee. Works on line, level shoulders, square landing.
Arm Action: LH. Long, loose, and quick arm action from a high 3/4 slot.
FB: T82, 79-81 mph. Slight run, carry through the zone.

SL: 1/7 shape, tight and sharp action. Flashed swing-and-miss action as he went on. mph.
CH: 76-77 mph. Mostly maintains arm speed. Straight. 

Patrick Jung, Appleton West (WI), 2020
Positional Profile: RHP/3B
Body: 6-foot-1, 175-pounds. Proportional build.
Delivery: Staggered start, small step to high knee tuck, drops and drives, closed landing.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm action from an over-the-top slot.
FB: T76, 72-74 mph. Straight four-seam type.
CB: 62-67 mph. 10/4 shape with above-average action. Can drop it in for strikes or beneath the zone.

Steven Kleyheeg, Franklin (WI), 2020
Positional Profile: RHP/SS
Body: 6-foot-2, 170-pounds. Tall, lean, lanky frame with projection.
Delivery: Overhead side rock with a quick tempo, knee tuck and slight coil, short extension, square landing.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm action, quick out front, from an over-the-top slot. Generated weak contact and consistent swings and misses in his two innings.
FB: T82, 79-82 mph. Downhill tilt, carry through the zone, hard.
CB: 64-69 mph. Inconsistent 11/5 shape that flashed tight action while mostly maintaining arm speed. Confidence in the pitch. 

Matthew Niederjohn, Marquette (WI), 2020
Positional Profile: RHP/
Body: 5-foot-11, 190-pounds. Strong lower half.
Delivery: Square to start with big side step to high knee and tuck. Level shoulders, on line, slightly closed at landing.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm circle, loose out of a high 3/4 window.
FB: T76, 73-76 mph. Generates arm-side run.
CB: 61-64 mph. Natural feel to spin, sharp action off an 11/5 plane.
CH: 68-71 mph. Similar arm-side run; mostly maintains arm speed.

Tayden Patterson, River Ridge (IL), 2020
Positional Profile: LHP/1B
Body: 6-foot-1, 185-pounds. Strong, thick lower half with projection.
Delivery: Square, tall at start, slow but rhythmic small step to knee lift, high front side. Good extension, square landing, easy effort throughout.
Arm Action: LH. Long, loose, clean arm action from a high 3/4 slot.
FB: T81, 78-81 mph. Straight, heavy type with carry in the zone. Feel for the corners.
CB: 64-66 mph. Maintains arm speed, tight spin, 1/7 shape. Out-pitch upside.
CH: 70-72 mph. Straight, mostly maintains arm speed. Only threw a few in-game. 

Brandon Peace, Nicolet (WI), 2020
Positional Profile: RHP/OF
Body: 6-foot-0, 145-pounds. Thin, athletic frame with slight projection.
Delivery: Smooth fluid rocker, to high knee and high front side, square landing. Quick tempo in-game.
Arm Action: RH. Loose, whippy arm action; long and quick from an over-the-top slot. Earned the most swings-and-misses at the event.
FB: T80, 77-80 mph. Tilt and jump through the zone. Some arm-side run. Spots it well on the corners.
CB: 67-69 mph. Tight, aggressive 11/5 shape with bite, at arm speed.
CH: 70-73 mph. Straight change thrown at arm speed effectively.

Joseph Pettit, Marquette University (WI), 2020
Positional Profile: RHP/SS
Body: 5-foot-10, 192-pounds. Sturdy, athletic build.
Delivery: Side step to high knee and hip turn, level shoulders, opens early, lands square.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm swing to release, quick out front, high 3/4 slot.
FB: T79, 78-79 mph. Hard, consistent run.
CB: 67-69 mph. Downer 11/5 shape, tight spin. Above-average feel.
CH: 70-71 mph. Maintains arm speed, similar hard/late action. Out-pitch potential. 

Jared Vogel, Jefferson (WI), 2020
Positional Profile: LHP/1B
Body: 6-foot-7, 195-pounds. Hulking, lanky, frame with considerable projection.
Delivery: Side steps to high knee with tempo, works level and on line, good extension down the mound, closed landing.
Arm Action: LH. Long and loose arm action, clean and quick out front. Little effort involved. Raw upside, an imposing at-bat. Punched out the side in his lone inning of work.
FB: T78, 74-77 mph. Some jump from hand, looks harder than it is. Natural cut action from a tough angle.
CB: 63-67 mph. 1/7 shape with feel for tight spin thrown at arm speed. Ability to spot it. 

Owen Weber, Appleton North (WI), 2020
Positional Profile: RHP/OF
Body: 6-foot-0, 170-pounds. Lean/athletic build.
Delivery: Stretch-only. Short, quick knee lift, closed shoulders, crossfire action to home.
Arm Action: RH. Short arm action with live, quick arm speed from a high 3/4 slot.
FB: T83, 79-83 mph. Straight four-seam type; carry in the zone.
CB: 64-67 mph. Decelerates arm speed but feel to spin is there. 11/5 shape with bite and action.
