AA Regional Preview: Road to Power Park

The 2019 West Virginia High School Baseball season is entering regional play this upcoming week in the Mountain State. Today, we continue a series of articles looking at the games in each classification. On Monday, best-of-three series throughout the state will begin. Here is a look at the match up's:
Region 1
Fairmont Senior vs. Frankfort - The Falcons carry a lofty 24-5 record in to their region final matchup with the Polar Bears. At the plate, the Falcons are led by seniors Caleb Hare (.469), Zack Whitacre (.402), Chandler Rhodes (.316) and Sebastian Stewart (.350), along with junior Brendan Whiteman (.386) and sophomore Brady Whitacre (.286). On the mound, Frankfort is anchored by Hare (1.07 ERA), Stewart (2.92 ERA), Mike White (1.33 ERA) and Z. Whitacre (2.21 ERA). The Falcons don't surrender many runs (1.70 team ERA) which has been impressive. Frankfort is looking to punch their ticket for the second straight year, after falling to Wayne in last years semifinal.
The Polar Bears enter regional play with a 18-12 record and coming off a sectional win over North Marion. No stats were available for Fairmont Senior.
Region 2
Lewis County vs. Bridgeport - The Minutemen have a tall challenge ahead of them facing 5 time defending state champion Bridgeport. Lewis County has 5 players hitting over .300. Led by Chase Freeman (.344), Levi Fox (.342), Will Hunt (.315), Teran Allman (.314) and Timmy Hunt (.302). On the mound, the Minuteman will look to Connor Johnson (3.48 ERA), Will Hunt (4.03 ERA), Timmy Hunt (1.25 ERA), and Allman (2.30 ERA) to try and slow down the the Indians.
Bridgeport is looking to continue their postseason success and punch their sixth straight trip to Power Park. No stats were available for Bridgeport.
Region 3
Oak Hill vs. Shady Spring - The Red Devils enter region play with a 21-12 record. At the plate, they are led by junior Lane Jordan (.375), Ty Nelson (.340), Zane Wolfe (.339) and Bradley Lokant (.330). On the mound, the Red Devils will look to Caleb Jones (1.83 ERA), Lokant (5.16 ERA), Jordan (1.24 ERA), and Wolfe (1.54 ERA).
Shady Spring brings a 17-9 record into regional play. The Tigers are led by Matt St. Clair (.400), Justin Lovell (.400), Jason Meadows (.397), Noel Sizemore (.394), Grant Davis (.326) and Parker Redden (.298). On the mound, the Tigers will lean on Lovell (4.63 ERA), Tommy Williams (2.24 ERA), Chris Lilly (1.70 ERA) and Nick Cooper (2.40 ERA) to try and slow down the Red Devils.
Region 4
Point Pleasant vs. Scott - The Big Blacks bring a 22-6 record into region play. At the plate, Point Pleasant is led by sophomore Joel Beattie (.412), Miles Williams (.387), Carter Smith (.384) and senior Brody Jeffers (.371). On the mound, the Big Blacks will look to Kyelar Morrow (1.41 ERA), Joe Herdman (2.68 ERA) and Levi Mitchell (2.33 ERA) to try and stop the potent Skyhawk offense.
Scott carry's a 25-5 record into regional action. The big hitting Skyhawks currently have seven players hitting over .300, two of which are over .400, and one over .500. Scott has 96 extra base hits recorded on the season. The Skyhawks are led by seniors Nathan Kuhn (.560), Isaac Miller (.404), and Carter Lyles (.402), along with Aaron Epling (.398), Hunter Eplin (.398), Aaron Adkins (.333), and Trenton Short (.321). On the mound, Scott will look to its senior leaders in Lyles (1.02 ERA), Peyton Brown (1.83 ERA) and Kuhn (2.53 ERA) to try and punch their ticket to the final four in Charleston.
