By Jacob Gill
Pennsylvania Assistant Director of Scouting

The summer schedule of PBR events in Pennsylvania continued this week with the 2016 Eastern PA Top College Prospect Showcase on June 29. Nearly 50 prospects from four states gathered to showcase their abilities at MapleZone Sports Village in Aston, PA. Today we conclude our analysis of the prospects in attendance by taking a look at the prospects that participated in the Class of 2017.

Dominick Bertone, C/OF, Garnet Valley
Physical 6-foot, 205-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a square stance and strides slightly closed. Exhibits good balance showed some pop to the pullside gap. Posted 85 mph exit velocity and ran a 7.16 60-yard dash. Showed 81 mph arm strength with accuracy from the outfield. Raw arm strength didn't translate as well behind the plate (67 mph from the crouch), although he is still in the process of recovering from a shoulder injury. Pop times were 2.19-2.27, while he showed a strong glove hand when receiving and a solid wall when blocking.

Evan Dumont, C/OF, West Chester Rustin
6-foot-2, 195-pound left-handed hitter. Starts from a square stance and strides slightly closed. Swing has strength and length and flashes some bat speed. Posted an 82 mph exit velocity and ran a 7.21 60-yard dash. Showed athletic actions in the outfield with 80 mph arm strength and inconsistent accuracy and trajectory. Exhibited solid receiving skills behind the place, posting pop times of 2.22-2.34 with 69 mph arm strength from the crouch that had occasional carry to it.

Lucas Feinstein, OF, Council Rock North
5-foot-9, 165-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a wide open stance and strides slightly closed. Inside-out stroke is geared to the opposite field, while he would benefit from keeping the barrel through the zone longer. Posted 83-mph exit velocity and ran a 7.77 60-yard dash. Defensively, he showed 83 mph arm strength out of a low arm slot with erratic accuracy.

Colin Hartey, OF, Twin Valley
6-foot-3, 205-pound left-handed hitter showed a solid across the board tool set. Starts from a slightly open stance and strides slightly closed. Has strength in frame and flashes bat speed. Consistently barreled the baseball during his BP round with a slightly uphill path. Posted 85 mph exit velocity and ran a 7.10 60-yard dash. Showed 86 mph arm strength with a low trajectory on his throws.

Brock Herrod, C, South Harrison (WV)
5-foot-8, 160-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a wide open stance and strides to slightly open. Gets good separation in load, although wrists get stiff and he was consistently late and working underneath the baseball during this BP round. Ran a 7.91 60-yard dash; posted 73 mph exit velocity and 67 mph arm strength from an abbreviated crouch, along with pop times of 2.26-2.36. Throws would have more carry if he would get his front foot around toward his target. Soft wall when blocking.

Will Hoffman, C, Harriton
6-foot-3, 210-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a slightly open stance and employs an exaggerated toe-tap to slightly closed. Exhibits pre-swing rhythm, flashes some bat speed, and stays through contact when he's on time. Posted 85 mph exit velocity and ran a 7.44 60-yard dash. Recorded 68 mph arm strength from the crouch with an accurate arm that produced pop times of 2.27-2.33.

Nick Krugh, OF, Seton-La Salle
6-foot-2, 175-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from an open stance and strides slightly closed. Good pre-swing rhythm and hit to all fields during his BP round. Limited use of lower half leads to a mainly upper-body swing right now. Ran a 6.96 60-yard dash and posted 75 mph exit velocity. Long release time into over-the-top arm slot and 78 mph arm strength.

Jacob Leibig, OF, Bishop McDevitt
5-foot-11, 165-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a square stance and strides slightly closed. Inside-out stroke with some top half dive. Doesn't wholly trust front foot, as he strides on his toe and lead leg bounces, inhibiting balance and head/eye stability. Ran a 6.88 60-yard dash; posted 80 mph exit velocity and 76 mph arm strength.

Joey Moyer, IF, Daniel Boone Area
5-foot-9, 170-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a slightly open stance and strides to square. Simple approach, stays inside the ball, repeats swing and used the middle of the field during his BP round. Ran a 7.03 60-yard dash and posted 74 mph exit velocity. Solid skills across the board defensively; winds up to get 83 mph arm strength across the diamond and may end up profiling best at second base at the next level.

Ryan Murphy, OF/RHP, Wilson
6-foot-4, 200-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from an open stance and strides to square. Flashed some bat speed, consistently barreled the baseball during his BP round, and worked hard to stay inside the baseball. Posted 83 mph exit velocity and ran a 7.64 60-yard dash. Moved pretty well in the outfield and had some skip on his throws of 83 mph. Intriguing on the mound with a prototype build. Loose arm with some arm speed. Threw strikes with his fastball out of a high three-quarter slot at 81-83 and sidearm at 80-82. Best secondary pitch was a change-up at 69-71 thrown out of the sidearm slot. Did not have the same feel for the pitch out of the conventional slot, while his breaking ball thrown out of both slots is still developing.

Adam Overcash, OF, Cumberland Valley
5-foot-11, 175-pound left-handed hitter. Starts from a slightly open stance and strides slightly closed. Hands start below armpit and raise to shoulder-height in load. Some front side float with stride, while he flashes barrel whip and bat speed. Posted 87 mph exit velocity and ran a 7.20 60-yard dash. Moves well defensively and showed accurate 83 mph arm strength.

Jonathan Sager, OF, Spring Grove Area
6-foot-1, 185-pound left-handed hitter. Starts slightly open and strides closed. Consistently barreled the baseball during his BP round and flashed some bat speed and pullside pop. Back heel retreats causing some spin on the back side, limiting ability to hit through contact and get more out of his strong frame. Posted an 84 mph exit velocity and ran a 7.33 60-yard dash. Works through throws well with 79 mph arm strength.

Ari Silverstein, RHP, Central Bucks East
Please see State Director Greg Williams' event Top Prospect article on Silverstein from Friday for a complete scouting report.

Dave Strawley, RHP, Springfield
6-foot, 185-pound frame. Out of an over-the-top arm slot with clean arm action, his fastball sat 79-81 and he showed a solid feel for a change-up at 73-75 with one-plane fade. Also showed a big-breaking curveball at 65-67 that varied in shape between 12/6 and 11/5. Repeated delivery and stayed on-line to the plate well.

Matthew Uzdzienski, OF/1B, Lansdale Catholic
6-foot-3, 205-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from an open stance and strides to square. Has strength, while flash of bat speed is mitigated by hands leaking forward before launch and barrel coming out of zone early. Posted 89 mph exit velocity and ran a 7.87 60-yard dash. Throws out of a low slot with front foot open at landing and 75 mph arm strength.

Chase Zurawski, C, Wilson
6-foot-2, 190-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from an upright, slightly open stance and strides slightly closed. Swing has a bit of stiffness, but he exhibits very good bat speed and consistently barreled the baseball during his BP round. Posted 88 mph exit velocity and ran a 7.26 60-yard dash. Very solid defensive skill set includes soft glove hand and legit arm strength (75 mph from the crouch) that travels straight with carry. Pop times of 2.00-2.10 could even improve if he learns to transfer high instead of down by his waist, while also adjusting his footwork straight to the bag instead of drifting toward the inside edge of the right-handed batter's box.
