Fall Program: Week Two Outfield Analysis

The 2nd Annual Fall College Prospect Program moved to La Roche College for Week Two action on September 14. The fall format involves two nine inning games and a showcase at each of three stops over the course of the month of September. Today we continue our analysis of the prospects in attendance during Week Two of the program by taking a look at the outfielders in attendance.

2015 OF RJ Boop (Neshaminy)

RJ BoopBoop is a 6-foot, 170-pound uncommitted senior that has made significant strides in the past year. The right-handed hitter gets to good extension from a square stance and flashed an 85 mph bat exit velocity while making consistent solid contact in batting practice. Boop went 2-for-3 with a sacrifice fly in game action and showcased athletic actions defensively with an 85 mph arm. He rounded out his day by running one of the top 60-yard dash times of the day at 6.98.

2015 OF/RHP Clayton Anderson (George Washington, WV)

Clayton AndersonAnderson is a physical 6-foot, 215-pound two-way prospect. The uncommitted senior took one of the top rounds of batting practice on the day driving the baseball repeatedly to all fields with a bat exit velocity of 80 mph. Anderson showed a line drive approach with developing power potential from the left side of the plate. He displayed an 82 mph arm from the outfield and sat 78-80 with a 69 mph curveball during three innings of work on the mound. Anderson registered six strikeouts and mixed the breaking ball effectively to keep hitters off balance.

2015 OF/LHP Braden Griffin (Man, WV)

Braden GriffinGriffin drove a long home run to right center field during game action as part of a 3-for-5 day that included a double, a sacrifice fly and three RBI. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound left-handed hitter starts from a square stance and uses a strong lower half and an aggressive hip turn to create a 90 mph bat exit velocity. Griffin flashed an 80 mph arm from the outfield and sat 80-82 with a tight spinning 72 mph slider during three innings of work on the mound. He completed his day by running a 7.23 60-yard dash.

2017 OF Chase Smith (Central)

Chase SmithSmith went 3-for-8 in game action giving him eight hits over the first two weeks of the Fall Program. The 5-foot-9, 165-pound right-handed hitter continued to display the ability to stay inside the baseball and to make consistent solid contact in game action. Smith ran a 7.36 60-yard dash and displayed a 72 mph arm from the outfield while battling nagging bumps and bruises from the third week of his high school football season.

2016 OF/3B Adam Cisney (Peters Township)

Cisney led off game action with a double off the left field wall. The 6-foot-1, 160-pound right-handed hitter displayed a square stance with a lift and replace stride while barreling the baseball routinely to all fields. Cisney turned in an above average 87 mph bat exit velocity and ran a 7.06 60-yard dash. The junior showcased athletic actions defensively with an accurate 81 mph arm.

2017 OF/2B Jared Conti (South Side)

Conti showed good feet (7.16 60-yard dash) and a 70 mph arm from the outfield. The 6-foot, 155-pound sophomore starts from a square stance with a high hands load. The right-handed hitter displayed a line drive approach with no stride and registered a bat exit velocity of 70 mph. Conti went 2-for-8 in game action with a single in each of two nine inning games.

2017 OF Zach Logan (Beaver Area)

Logan ran a 7.15 60-yard dash and displayed athletic actions defensively with an accurate 79 mph arm. The 5-foot-7, 140-pound left-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a lift and replace stride with limited lower half action. Logan barreled the baseball frequently during his round of batting practice with a bat exit velocity of 74 mph.

2016 OF Jimmy Martin (West Allegheny)

Martin flashed an accurate 83 mph arm defensively and displayed the ability to play through the baseball. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound junior hits from a slightly open right-handed stance and utilizes a lift and replace stride. Martin barreled the baseball frequently, using all fields, with a bat exit velocity of 76 mph.

2017 OF Jimmy Nixon (Blackhawk)

Nixon is a physical 6-foot-1, 180-pound sophomore that showcased the top outfield arm of the day at 89 mph. The left-handed hitter displayed a flat bat path from a square stance with a lift and replace stride. Nixon barreled the baseball frequently to all fields during his round of batting practice with a bat exit velocity of 83 mph.

2016 OF Keegan Phillips (North Allegheny)

Phillips displayed above average arm strength (83 mph) with good carry while playing through the baseball defensively. The 6-foot-1, 165-pound junior has a projectable frame and is a long strider. Phillips showcased a short swing path out of a square right-handed stance with a bat exit velocity of 80 mph. He flashed good barrel whip and the ability to consistently barrel the baseball to all fields during his round of batting practice.

2015 OF Ryan Sproule (Central Catholic)

Sproule had a solid day in all facets of the game running a 6.96 60-yard dash and displaying a very solid 87 mph arm with good carry from the outfield. The uncommitted senior displayed a square stance with a lift and replace stride from the right side of the plate. Sproule stays behind the baseball well and gets to extension with regularity with a bat exit velocity of 83 mph.
