Weather has played havoc with sectional schedules statewide this week, but St. Albans and Captial were able to beat the rain on Thursday, thanks in part to the artificial turf surface at Loftis Field.  Alec Hodges took full advantage of the opportunity belting two home runs while driving in six to lead the Red Dragons to an 8-6 win.

St. Alban's play in the first mimicked the weather, sloppy.  They gifted the Capital Cougars three runs without a hit on three walks, an error and a fielders choice.  Capital returned the favor in the bottom half of the inning by walking four.  The Red Dragons were able to maximize the opportunity thanks to a grand slam off the bat of Hodges.  When the dust settled St Albans had won the inning and led 6-3.

Capital tightened things up in the top of the fourth scoring twice when an Andrew Sydenstricker double drove home Ian Rose and Grant Thompson who had singled.  Leading by a 6-5 score Ridge LesterSt Albans plated two more in the sixth.  Casey Kremlin singled and scored when Hodges went deep for the second time.

Capital posted a single run in the seventh on a sacrafice fly by Logan Spurlock for the 8-6 final. Andrew Sydenstriker (2-4, 1 R, 2 RBI) and Hodges (2-3, 2 R,  6 RBI, 2 HR) led the St. Albans offense.  Ridge Lester ( right) got the save with a line of 3 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K.

St. Alban's moves on to take on George Washington on Friday needing to beat the Patriots twice to capture the section crown.
