George Washington Patriots Named Team of the Week

Week No. 1 - Team of the Week:  George Washington Patriots

The George Washington Patriots, No. 7 in the PBR Elite 8 rankings to begin the season, have gotten off to a quick start through the first week of the season. The Patriots have feasted on Kentucky opponents to date with wins over Pikeville (14-0), Russell (5-4) and East Carter (13-9).

The Patriots are hitting .312 as a team in the early going with Garrett Vogelbach (.667, 6 RBI) and John Thomas (.444, 5 runs scored) leading the way. Tanner Sorrells leads the team with seven RBI while Alex Lewis has swiped four bases.

Eight GW pitchers have seen innings on the hill in the early going, combining for a team ERA of 4.05. Sophomore RHP Austin Henrich has been particularly impressive picking up a win and a save in his two appearances spanning 2.2 innings. 

Four Patriots pitchers combined on a no-hitter to start the season in the 14-0 win over Pikeville. Jeff Wong, Ethan Hartney, Evan Gibson and Garrett Vogelbach teamed up for 10 strikeouts and no walks in the five-inning pitching gem.
