The initial Class of 2016 rankings have been released and Logan Goodnight (The Linsly School) has earned the nod as the top prospect in the class. The 6-1, 165-pound SS/RHP hit .371 as a varsity starter as a freshman in 2013. Goodnight was also named to the WWBA 16U All-Tournament team in July 2013 as a member of the Chandler Baseball program. During the course of the tournament he went 6-for-16 with four doubles and four RBI. Goodnight is currently participating in the WWBA Underclass World Series in Fort Myers, Florida.
This class appears to be heavy on quality hitters with nine of the top ten prospects being position players. At No. 2 is 1B Cary Casto (Parkersburg Catholic HS), who hit .360 as a freshman in 2013. 1B Josh Baker, No. 3 in the class, helped Notre Dame reach the Class A semifinals in 2013.
