Tristan Thompson is coming off of a sophomore season in which he was named an All-Conference and an Honorable Mention All-State selection in 2013. The 5-foot-10, 165-pound SS/RHP participated recently in the Fall College Prospect Program at Thiel College and showcased well in all facets of the game.
Thompson hits out of a square stance and uses a solid lower half to create barrel whip in his swing. He took one of the top rounds of batting practice on the day showcasing the ability to use all fields. Thompson has excellent rhythm to his swing and the ball jumps off his barrel. The middle infielder also displayed a soft glove hand and the ability to play through the baseball with throws of 74 mph across the diamond.
Thompson moved to the mound in the 9th for a quick 1-2-3 inning of work topping at 79 mph. He utilizes an overhead rocker delivery and a 3/4 arm slot with solid command of his fastball. Thompson also flashed the makings of an above average curveball at 70 mph.
Heading into his junior season, Thompson will be a middle infielder to watch in the Class of 2015. His athletic build and potential to be a two-way prospect at the next level make him an interesting follow.
