PBR Fall Showcase Player Spotlight: Brady Whitacre

Josh Kuykendall
West Virginia Director of Scouting

This fall, we will be taking a closer look at each member of the PBR Fall Showcase Team, known as the Appalachian Aces. Today we highlight 2021 C/RHP Brady Whitacre (Frankfort), who is currently Uncommitted.

Kuykendall on Whitacre: "Brady has some of the best skillset behind the plate for his age in the whole state. As he continues to grow, his bat will continue to become more of weapon. If he continues to work hard, the sky is the limit for him."

Scouting Report

10/09/17 Whitacre a 5-foot-6, 180-pound C/RHP from Frankfort HS inittiates swing from neutral set up with short stride staying neutral. Hands wok well to baseball and solid extension is achieved. There is passive weight shift and limited separation. Whitacre drops hands in load. He would benefit from more aggressive weight shift away from hands as well as working hands up and back in load.

Defensively, 68 mph arm strength out of crouch played up to pop times of 2.05 - 2.09 as a result of quick hands/feet and clean quick transfer. Young catcher has makings of solid defender. He must work on softening hands in receiving as well as lateral quickness.
