By Jacob Gill
Pennsylvania Assistant Director of Scouting

The 2016 PBR Pennsylvania Preseason All-State Showcase kicks off four weeks from tomorrow. Once the dust settles on the event, initial invitations will be sent out to prospects in the 2018 and 2019 classes to compete for Team Pennsylvania at the PBR Future Games powered by Under Armour in August. Today is the final in a series of articles that takes a look at the team members from the summers of 2012-2014, with tidbits about where the 2014 team is headed and what's in store for them during the spring high school season.

Six of the participants helped their team reach the PIAA state tournament as juniors and are pushing for an encore performance in their scholastic swan song. Matthews' Chucks and Celidonia's Spartans were each felled by eventual Class AAA champion Knoch. Vincent's Knights reached the Class A championship game, while Fraschetti pitched his Lancers to an 8-0 win in the Class AA title game over a Saints team that included Verratti and D'Amore.

More than half of the Pennsylvania participants earned all-conference honors as juniors: Bergmann (1st-team all-Inter-Ac), Fraschetti (all-WPIAL class AA section 5), Reesman (2nd-team all-Mid Penn Commonwealth), Schultz (all-WPIAL class AAA section 2), Tarabek (all-WPIAL class AAAA section 2), Verratti (1st-team all-Philadelphia Catholic), Vincent (all-District X), Wapinsky (1st-team all-Berks Division II), and Yoder (1st-team all-Mid Penn Capital).

With a less than 30-mile drive on Pennsylvania State Route 119 separating their high schools, Matthews and Schultz will make the 150 mile trek west across the Ohio state line and team up in the spring of 2017 for the Golden Flashes.

The lone uncommitted senior, Bowen is also a standout wide receiver who is still considering his options, including those that would allow him to continue to play both sports.

Still only a junior, Gorman missed last season due to some nagging injury issues, but should return this spring for a Quakers team that missed his steadying presence atop the rotation.
