Pitcher Anlaysis: Week 6 of Fall College Prospect Program

By Greg Williams
PA Director of Scouting

The Fall College Prospect Program made stops at 10 colleges in Pennsylvania over the span of five weekends before making its one and only appearance in West Virginia at Alderson Broaddus University. A total of six pitchers toed the rubber at A-B with quality performances from pitchers in three different classes. Following is a breakdown of each of the pitchers that made an appearance.

RHP Jordan Bray, Capital HS, Class of 2014

Bray is a 6-foot-3, 195-pound righty with a long arm throwing motion. He sat 75-77 during three innings of work on the mound allowing six hits while striking out one. Bray also displayed a 10/4 breaking curveball that sat 68-69 mph that he used to keep hitters off balance. He has a projectable frame and could see additional velocity with some tinkering to his mechanics.

RHP Shane Ennis, Hampshire HS, Class of 2014

Ennis is spending his fall tossing footballs around a gridiron rather than throwing a baseball off a mound, but that didn't stop him from turning in a solid performance at Alderson Broaddus. The No. 1 ranked prospect in the West Virginia Class of 2014 sat 86-87 while touching 88 mph in his three innings of work. Ennis also displayed an improving 72 mph curveball with 11/5 break as well as a 76 mph changeup. Ennis struck out three and allowed three hits in his time on the mound while showing similar velocity from the summer months. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound righty is not a finished product and projects as a prospect likely to see 90 mph in the near future.
