Position Player Analysis: Week 6 of Fall College Prospect Program

The Fall College Prospect Program made stops at 10 colleges in Pennsylvania over the span of five weekends before making its one and only appearance in West Virginia at Alderson Broaddus University. Following is a breakdown of the infielders and outfielders that participated.

1B/3B Kaleb Atkinson, Preston HS, Class of 2014

Atkinson is a 6-foot-1, 250-pound prospect that showcased the ability to drive the baseball out of a slightly open stance. He utilizes a high hands load and a strong lower half to create a bat exit velocity of 85 mph. Atkinson went 1-for-3 at the plate in game action. He showed good footwork around the bag at 1B and solid carry to throws of 80 mph across the diamond.

OF/1B Dakota Carr, Morgantown HS, Class of 2014

Carr is a 6-foot-1, 165-pound prospect that showcased athletic actions in the outfield with accurate throws of 80 mph. The right-handed hitter bats from a slightly open stance and utilizes a high hands load to produce a bat exit velocity of 82 mph. Carr barreled the baseball routinely in batting practice and showed the ability to use all fields.

3B/1B Anthony Gavin, Capital HS, Class of 2014

Gavin came into the event nursing a knee injury, but still impressed with his potential. The 6-foot, 185-pound uncommitted senior has an athletic frame and displayed good carry on throws of 77 mph across the infield without the ability to plant on his injured knee. The right-handed hitter has very quick hands at the plate and the ball jumps off his bat head with a bat exit velocity of 81 mph. Gavin barreled the baseball in all four trips to the plate and finished the day 1-for-4 in game action.

SS/2B Jimmy Galusky, Preston HS, Class of 2014

Galusky flashed athletic actions in the middle infield and one of the top infield arms at the event at 83 mph across the diamond. The 6-foot-3, 175-pound uncommitted senior has very good range and exhibited above average abilities at 3B as well. Galusky showcased a solid 86 mph bat exit velocity and went 1-for-4 at the plate in game action, while squaring the baseball in two other at bats.

2B/SS Bryce Nolan, Preston HS, Class of 2014

Nolan is a 5-foot-10, 145-pound uncommitted senior that displayed a quick release and the ability to make throws from several arm angles at 70 mph across the diamond. The right-handed hitter displayed a bat exit velocity of 75 mph with a very short swing path and went 1-for-4 at the plate in game action.

OF Levi Nolan, Preston HS, Class of 2014

Nolan had a solid showing in all facets of the game. The 5-foot-9, 160-pound uncommitted senior showed precise routes to the baseball and accurate throws of 79 mph from the outfield. Nolan displayed a square stance and very quick hands in squaring the baseball routinely in batting practice. He used very quick hands to produce a bat exit velocity of 80 mph. Nolan went 2-for-4 at the plate in game action while barreling the baseball in all four at bats.

C/2B Travis Renner, University HS, Class of 2014

Renner is a 6-foot, 185-pound athletic backstop that showcased pop times of 2.02-2.09 on throws of 70 mph out of the crouch. The right-handed hitter hits out of a slightly open stance and uses very strong wrists and forearms to create barrel whip and a bat exit velocity of 89 mph. Renner barreled the baseball routinely in batting practice and showcased the ability to drive the baseball to all fields.
