Robert CrossOf the close to 180 prospects to showcase their abilities over two days of the 2015 Preseason All-State Showcase, just three hailed from West Virginia. Today we analyze the talents of the corner infielders in attendance highlighted by a look at RHP/3B Robert Cross (Washington HS). Cross is currently ranked No. 13 in the WV Class of 2016.

Cross is a 6-foot, 200-pound two-way prospect that ran a 7.51 60-yard dash to open his evaluation phase working out with corner infielders during first day action of the two day event. The physical third baseman showed athletic actions at the hot corner with a soft glove hand. Cross displayed the ability to make plays on the move while showcasing throws of 74 mph from several arm angles across the diamond.

The junior was most impressive with a bat in his hand. Starting from a square stance the left-handed hitter demonstrated a feel for the barrel and a strong lower half while consistently barreling the baseball during a solid round of batting practice. Cross has a tendency to get to his front side a bit early but when he stays behind the baseball power potential is evident with a bat exit velocity of 81 mph.

Cross returned for day two action to demonstrate his two-way skills as a right-handed pitcher. A look at Cross and the entire group of 30 right-handers to take the mound will be published on Monday.
