Travis Renner is a 6-foot, 185-pound C/3B from University HS that is preparing for what he hopes will be a banner senior season. The unsigned senior hit .411 with four home runs and 26 RBI in 2012 and followed that ups by hitting .523 with 28 RBI and five home runs in 2013.
Renner is a solidly built 6-foot, 185-pound prospect that registered a 4.15 home-to-1B time at the Preseason All-State Showcase. He demonstrated some gap power potential and the ability to consistently drive the baseball with a bat exit velocity of 89 mph. Renner showcased a 78 mph arm across the diamond and the ability to make all plays. Although he is a primary catcher, Renner showed the athleticism to play multiple infield positions as well. Behind the plate, Renner showcased pop times of 2.12-2.19 on throws of 72 mph from the crouch.
With his ability to hit for average and his proven track record of driving in runs Renner should continue to draw interest from college programs as the season progresses. He has made a number of visits since high school football ended and will likely make a college choice this spring or early summer.
