Hurst filled up the box score on a nightly basis hitting .308 with 13 RBI and 19 runs scored. He was also effective on the base paths swiping 11 bases in 12 attempts. Hurst had seven multiple hit games and hit safely in 14 of his final 19 games in his first season as a varsity player.
