The Hotlist: 2014 Players Of The Year

By Nathan Rode and PBR Staff

With every high school season wrapped up except for Indiana, which concludes in a couple days, this week’s Hotlist looks at the Players of the Year for most of the states in Prep Baseball Report’s coverage area. A few states officially launched in the middle of or after the season, so they are excluded from this exercise.

Scott Blewett, RHP, Baker HS, NY
Blewett stands an impressive 6-foot-6 230 pounds and has some projection in his upper body. His fastball stays on a downward plane, sitting 89-92 mph, topping 95. His plus pitch is his 78 mph 11/5 shape curveball that has a ton of spin. He needs to work on his change up but in time that will come along, also shows quick feet on the mound and the athletic ability to cover his position. Selected by the Royals in the second round, Blewett went 4-0 with a 0.23 ERA in 30 innings pitched. He allowed just 15 hits and struck out 54.
