Unsigned Senior Spotlight: LHP Bradley Davis

By Greg Williams
WV Director of Scouting

Bradley Davis has been the top ranked left-handed pitcher in the WV Class of 2016 for some time and rightfully so. The 6-foot, 185-pound uncommitted senior spun a complete game, allowing just four hits, to lead Jefferson to the Class AAA title with a 2-1 win over Nitro. Davis finished his junior season at 8-0 with a 0.76 ERA.

Davis put up his impressive numbers last spring without the use of an overpowering fastball. Instead, the crafty lefty uses a four pitch mix with nearly identical arm speed on each pitch to take the sting out of opponents' bats.

Davis struck out three and allowed two runs on three hits over three innings of work at the West Virginia Top Prospect Games in August. He sat 77-79 from a high 3/4 arm slot with some hip coil to his delivery. Davis displayed an athletic, repeatable delivery and identical arm speed on all his offerings. He showcased a 68 mph changeup, a 65 mph curveball with 1/7 rotation and a 72 mph slider in his arsenal of pitches. Davis has an advanced feel for all his pitches, the confidence to throw any pitch in any count, and a solid knowledge of how to pitch.
