Today we unveil the West Virginia Weekly Notebook. The notebook will be a Monday feature that recaps highlights and news regarding prospects around the state on a weekly basis.


Fall College Prospect Program

The fall program has made visits to six college campuses in Pennsylvania over the past three weeks and will continue on four additional college campuses in PA over the next two weekends. The program will conclude with a stop at Alderson Broaddus University in West Virginia on September 29. To date, prospects from Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, New Jersey, Delaware and Canada have participated.

1B/3B Kale Atkinson, Preston HS, Class of 2014

Atkinson is a 6-foot-1, 250-pound prospect that will participate at Alderson Broaddus University on September 29.

Jimmy GaluskySS Jimmy Galusky, Preston HS, Class of 2014

Galusky is a 6-foot-3, 170-pound prospect that has participated at three stops in the program. Galusky has showcased an 81 mph arm across the diamond and very good range at shortstop. The uncommitted senior is drawing interest from a number of schools including several that have seen him perform at PBR events. Galusky is also scheduled to participate at Alderson Broaddus University on September 29.

SS/RHP Drew Lett, Doddridge County HS, Class of 2016

Lett was one of the more interesting pitchers over the course of the first two weekends of the program. He has a long frame at 6-foot-2, 160-pounds and displayed repeatable mechanics out of a high 3/4 arm slot. Lett sat 79-81 with some arm side run to his fastball.

OF Levi Nolan, Preston HS, Class of 2014

Nolan is a 5-foot-9, 160-pound OF from Preston HS. He helped lead the Knights to a sectional title in 2013. Nolan will participate at Alderson Broaddus University on September 29.

2B/SS Ryan Nolan, Preston HS, Class of 2014

Nolan is a 5-foot-10, 145-pound 2B/SS that showcased a quick release and the ability to play through the baseball with a 71 mph arm across the diamond. Nolan showcased a short swing path and the ability to barrel the baseball consistently during action at Misericordia University and Mansfield University. Nolan is also scheduled to participate at Alderson Broaddus University on September 29.

C Alex Reidel, Bishop Donahue HS, Class of 2015

Reidel is a 6-foot, 195-pound backstop that hit .410 with three home runs and 21 RBI in 2013. He has yet to participate in the fall program.

Russell SchwertfegerOF Russell Schwertfeger, Brooke HS, Class of 2014

Schwertfeger is a 6-foot-1, 185-pound prospect that showcased an 88 mph arm from the outfield and good foot speed (7.06 60-yard dash). The uncommitted senior went 2-for-5 with two triples at La Roche College and Seton Hill University the 1st weekend of the fall program. Schwertfeger uses all fields and shows the ability to drive the baseball to the opposite field from the left side of the plate.

2B/RHP William Thompson, Chapmanville Regional HS, Class of 2015

Thompson is a 5-foot-10, 165-pound 2B/RHP that was a 1st Team All-Conference and an Honorable Mention All-State selection as a sophomore in 2013. He will participate at Thiel College on September 14.

3B/C Lucas Trovato, University HS, Class of 2014

Trovato is a 5-foot-8, 195-pound 3B/C that will be participating at Alderson Broaddus University on September 29.

OF/2B Eric Wooten, Cabell Midland HS, Class of 2014

Wooten is a 5-foot-11, 155-pound OF/2B that helped lead the Knights to the Class AAA state finals in 2013. He will be participating at Thiel College on September 14.


who's hot?

Zach MinnickC/3B Zach Minnick (Logan HS, Class of 2015) has had a breakout summer, leading to interest from Division I schools around the midwest and eastern portions of the country. Minnick earned a spot on the Team Pennsylvania roster for the Under Armour Midwest Future Games at Indiana University in August and saw his stock soar after an impressive performance.
